In a justification for why it did not put the contract out for competitive bids, an ICE contracting officer wrote: “Vendors in the Bakersfield area were contacted to determine whether they would deliver to ICE facilities however, the responses were not favorable as many companies did not want to provide delivery to ICE locations.”

According to the ICE documents regarding the sandwich deliveries, the sentiment extends beyond Bakersfield. “Market Research has shown that there is competition but locating a vendor in the state of CA who will deliver to an ICE facility is limited,” it says.
California’s sandwich makers are not alone. Under Donald Trump, ICE has been ordered to carry out an immigration policy many Americans find reprehensible. Businesses across the US have chosen not to associate their brands with ICE.

Scottish craft brewer BrewDog has pulled out of a tie-up with a US beer maker after a row over free drinks to Donald Trump supporters.

Ellon-based BrewDog had planned a series of events with Scofflaw at bars across the UK this weekend.

It appeared the American firm had said anyone backing the US president could get "beered up redneck-style free of charge".

But Scofflaw later distanced itself from the promotion.

BrewDog founder James Watt said the offer had nothing to do with his company and scrapped all the events.

I advocate reducing poverty in specifically that way. If the goal is to reduce carbon, then getting the poorest people better choices in the context of home heating (as an example) should yield a number of pounds of saved carbon emissions.

The greatest contributor I know of myself, is air travel. It's already motivated by huge fuel costs, to economize. How would a further fuel tax change their use? I mean, they just pass along the costs to their customers, via their VERY clear and robust tariff schedule. (at least in Canada)

So how is your fuel tax going to cut? Are my local communities just going to go back to dogsled and barge for all their amazon shopping needs?

Simply incorrect. World wide, the greatest single contributor to global CO2 is burning coal to generate electricity.

That aside, air travel does make a contribution. I've suggested elsewhere that many international business and government meetings could be replaced by high-tech digital conferences - surely by now the technology is mature enough to work effectively...
