Jeremy Clarkson racism allegations: Top Gear presenter’s week of hell continues with rumours his wife of 21 years is divorcing him
Whether deservedly so or not, the last seven days of Jeremy Clarkson’s life have been, by all accounts, a bit of a shocker.
Firstly, the Top Gear presenter was accused of being a racist when un-broadcast footage of him appearing to mumble the word ‘n****r’ while reciting a derogatory rhyme was leaked to the press.
It resulted in some stern words from BBC bosses and a final warning, and some words of support from co-presenter James May, the Secretary of State for Eduction Michael Gove and the man no-one could possibly want sticking up for them, UKIP leader Nigel Farage.
He also released a grovelling video apology, in which he declared he’d taken steps to ensure he hadn’t said the offensive word, but admitted that his efforts “obviously were not good enough”.
None of this, of course, was helped by the fact he’d recently come under fire for naming his black pet dog ‘Didier Dogba’ (yes, after the black footballer), and made a derogatory reference to Asian people during a recent episode of Top Gear
But it gets worse. Reports this morning suggest that Clarkson’s wife of 21 years, Frances Clarkson, is set to divorce him.
The couple have been living apart for three years after their marriage was put under strain following a slew of rumours that the presenter had been unfaithful – something he has vehemently denied.
Again, his repeat denials were not helped by the fact he’d lifted a High Court injunction in 2011 that prevented his first wife, Alex Hall, whom he’d initially married in 1989 only to separate from two years later, from claiming that she’d had an affair with Clarkson after he was married to Frances in 1993.

Maybe that Agatha Christie novel should revert to it's original title. You know the one ... :readL

But Harris is whitey, Ernest Hogan was black, like a lot of the Coon Song performers.mistermack wrote:Original lyrics from Rolf Harris's ''Tie me kangaroo down sport'' :HomerJay wrote:The times they are a changin'

It was a different era. Things are constantly changing on the race front.HomerJay wrote: But Harris is whitey, Ernest Hogan was black, like a lot of the Coon Song performers.
He wanted to make money, and it was a successful song. Back in those days, blacks had to swallow all sorts of stuff to get by in the US.
You could constantly bring up stuff that appears unacceptable now, from then, just like the Rolf Harris song. It doesn't really mean anything, other than the times they are a constantly changing.
It's a bit like the extremely camp gay stand-up comedians today, making all sorts of super-gay jokes.
In a few years, they might be embarrassed like Hogan later was. But right now, they don't much care, and are making good money.

Ofcom examines Jeremy Clarkson's Top Gear Myanmar joke
Media regulator Ofcom is investigating whether a recent episode of Top Gear, which included a controversial joke about Asian people, broke its rules.
Host Jeremy Clarkson used a derogatory term during the Burma Special, which was broadcast on BBC Two in March.
The show's producer later apologised, but Ofcom is now looking into whether it breached its "content standards".
The news comes after Clarkson was criticised for mumbling a racist word during an outtake from another episode.
The Ofcom investigation relates to a special programme in which the show's hosts built a bridge over the River Kwai, on the border of Myanmar (also known as Burma) and Thailand.
Surveying the structure as a local man walked across it, Clarkson remarked: "That is a proud moment. But there's a slope on it."
Co-star Richard Hammond replied: "You're right. It's definitely higher on that side."

Re: Jeremy Clarkson Media Crucified For Race Rant
Responses like this don't just say "fuck you" to people who genuinely are on the receiving end of awful treatment due to their race or ethnic origin, but they also give the green light for that special kind of sanctimonious twat to liken his own position to that of the history's great emancipators, as if "speaking out" against Clarkson's almost-inaudible mumblings is worth a pat on the back. I can't help but feel that any word that refers to such a broad spectrum of behaviour is virtually useless. If things like this are defined with recourse to their common roots they share with racial segregation and ethnic cleansing, "racist" probably isn't a good word to use anymore, for the same reason that "sexism" isn't really the right word to describe both serious sexual assault and making an unfunny Youtube comment about women and kitchens.

A veteran BBC local radio DJ has lost his job after playing a song on his golden oldies show containing a racist word.
BBC Radio Devon DJ David Lowe, 68, said he was unaware that a 1932 version of The Sun Has Got His Hat On included the n-word.
