That is another problem with this law. It seems it may set a precedent that other service providers could follow and start lying to their customers. If anyone takes action against them for lying, they could just use this law as support and claim that to forbid them from lying while allowing others to lie is discriminatory.

And why not? If a doctor can be dishonest and lie to a patient, why not any other service provider?

Any other service provider now has justifiable cause to ask for such a freedom. If a doctor can wilfully lie to a patient about a serious medical condition of the fetus they're carrying, then why should we be holding any company or individual accountable for the products or services they provide? The law already states that the medical industry doesn't have to look after its patients.

Firstly As a man My opinions on abortion are secondary , but If I were were to be a parent (nearly was once ) and my Significant Other had paid for tests and scans been told that every thing was fine and there were no problems . Then at the birth of a severely handicapped baby the Doctor said "Oh I knew but what I didn't tell you when you paid for for all those tests was that there was no point in your S O having them. I feel that my Xian duty outweighs my Hippocratic oath my honesty, my legal and implied contract with you and your Mrs . Oh and BTW we are in Oklahoma so there is nothing you can do about it .

#well forgive my wrath but the Doctor would be killed.

And to say that A Doctor should be able to behave that way and it's a matter of freedom (fuck that word is over used on the other side of the pond)is well ... confused !

My GF had a Catholic Doctor who would not prescribe contraception ....but he referred all his cases to another Doctor in the practice . That is respecting his rights . What you are saying is that He would have been Ok to prescribe a Placebo and when half the female undergraduates got pregnant say it was his RIGHT not to give out contraception, and to lie about it .

I have done enough work in the Cytogenetics lab at the hospital to know that some babies just should never have been born .

IF A DOCTOR BEHAVED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THAT LAW HE SHOULD BE STRUCK OFF !

In addition to the lying to patients thing, another bill passed after being vetoed which now makes it mandatory for a doctor to perform an ultrasound on any woman seeking an abortion for any reason. This must be done in such a manner that the woman can view the ultrasound while it is being performed, with the doctor explaining what the ultrasound depicts. It requires that photos be printed out and that the doctor explain and identify all external members, internal organs, and cardiac activity (if any). It requires that if the clearest picture of the fetus can be obtained by a vaginally inserted transducer, that this method be used, and that this must take place at least one hour before the abortion or any preparation for the abortion can begin.

It also goes on to say that if a doctor does not comply with this, the mother, her spouse, her parent, her sibling, her guardian, or any former or current health care provider of the woman in question can sue the doctor. The doctor can be fined, or his/her practice shut down for failing to comply with the regulation. It makes no distinction for cases of rape or incest, and it does not state that the relatives or health care providers of the woman may only sue if she is a minor.

Of course what do you expect from the same state that wants to publish personal information about women who have abortions on the internet for everyone to see?
'Religion has actually convinced people that there's an invisible man -- living in the sky -- who watches everything you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do.. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever 'til the end of time! ..But He loves you.' - George Carlin

This is disgusting!! What they want to do is pressure the woman into guilt and try to make her change her mind. Totally fucken wrong and unbelievable. Whoever wrote this law should be hunted down like a rabid animal. I am so pissed to hear this, it's just beyond me that I live in a country that one of the states has this. How many other states will try to follow?? This will get an ugly rebound. They think cause they got away with it in Oklahoma, it might fly everywhere else. Fuck that shithead who even thought about this.
