US 11th Circuit Court of Appeals Rules in Favor of the State of Florida and Law-Abiding Gun Owners Over Activist Doctors and the Gun Control Lobby
The United States Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit has ruled that doctors do not have the right to ask patients if they own a firearm when unnecessary to a patient's care
...
In the ruling, the three judge panel ruled: "In keeping with these traditional codes of conduct—which almost universally mandate respect for patient privacy—the Act simply acknowledges that the practice of good medicine does not require interrogation about irrelevant, private matters. As such, we find that the Act is a legitimate regulation of professional conduct. The Act simply codifies that good medical care does not require inquiry or record-keeping regarding firearms when unnecessary to a patient’s care."

Reminder: District of Columbia v. Heller
Writing for a majority of the Supreme Court in District of Columbia v. Heller, which recognized an individual right under the Second Amendment to possess firearms for self-defense, Justice Scalia observed: “The very enumeration of the right takes out of the hands of government … the power to decide on a case-by-case basis whether the right is really worth insisting upon.”
...

Earlier this year, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals recognized that a California regulatory scheme that effectively granted local sheriffs the discretion to decide who had “good cause” to carry firearms in public was unconstitutional.

Arming America's teachers
When the school year begins, more teachers will be armed. Since the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School more than a year and a half ago, nine states passed laws allowing teachers to have firearms in school.
...
[picture] Their faces cannot be shown because they're the classroom equivalent of an air marshal on a plane. They carry their weapons anonymously.

When the semester begins, only the local police and school board will know they're armed.

An administrator says she chose to go through with the training because she's "from a rural school. And the response time is so slow to get any law enforcement help ... I felt it was important, if I was able to help and do something to protect our kids."
...
Former Highway Patrolman Greg Martin runs the program. "We've taken people who have never really handled a handgun at all and given them this training and turn them out to where they score a 90 percent."

The training includes means five hours in the classroom and 35 hours on the gun range.

"We make it as realistic as possible because in the event that that happens, god forbid, we want them to be ready," says Martin.

When arming teachers is seen as a good thing, a nation has clearly left sanity and civilisation behind, and is on the path to chaos and barbarism...

From Jan 14, 2013

Guns Already Allowed in Schools in some States
More than a third of the states already allow teachers and other adults to carry guns to school. In most cases, all you need is the equivalent of a note from the principal — you usually don't even need law enforcement approval.

NBC News reviewed the firearms and education laws in all 50 states and found that 18 of them allow adults to have a loaded gun on school grounds, usually as long as they have written permission.

"A Minnesota man who admitted shooting a 17-year-old girl multiple times because she asked him to stop trespassing on his riding lawnmower has been charged with attempted first-degree murder. "

AND

No big loss, but still. Stray bullets!

APPLETON, WI, 6/22/14: An Appleton man is dead after police say he was shot accidentally on Sunday while a handgun was being cleaned. At about 7:45 PM, the 55-year-old man was hit with one round at a home in the 900 block of West Winnebago Street and taken to the hospital. He died from his injury, Appleton police said. The firearm was being examined by an acquaintance when it went off in the residence. Several weapons that were shot recently at a local range were being cleaned. An autopsy was planned for Monday morning. UPDATE: Joseph M. Pastorelli Sr., 55, was hit in the chest with one round at about 7:45 PM in a home in the 900 block of West Winnebago Street and taken to the hospital. He died from his injury, Appleton police said.

Avoid the cheaper motels and neighborhoods

SALINA, KS, 6/26/14: Police say a Salina woman is lucky to have escaped injury when a bullet fired into her home struck her bed and traveled through the mattress. The Salina Journal reports (http://bit.ly/... ) the shot was one of two fired into the woman’s home as she slept around 11:30 PM Thursday. A house across the street was also hit by a bullet that was found in a closet. Investigators continued looking Friday for whoever was firing multiple shots with a high-powered rifle. Police Capt. Mike Sweeney says two rounds entered the rear of the sleeping woman’s home. One came through a bedroom wall, struck the headboard and traveled through the mattress and a front wall. That bullet was found on the porch. Officers did not immediately find the second bullet.

I've gone through Oklahoma and a bit of Kansas many times. One time to avoid tornado weather further south. I did think the tornadoes would appear in Kansas anytime.

If I'm far enough north will go thru Nebraska and Iowa.

It is possible to get to Kansas City, without going to Kansas.
