What are you playing now?
Re: What are you playing now?
Yeah, that was a major Flaw in Fallout 3.
They fixed it with the Broken Steel DLC - ten new levels, new perks, and the ability to keep playing after you start the purifier.
And a whole new quest to go along with it, along with new items and new locations and new enemies.
If you're bored, you might want to think about picking up Point Lookout and Broken Steel, possibly even the Pitt. They really add a hell of a lot to the game. Point Lookout in particular is amazing. There's a fourth one, but I don't think Mothership Zeta is available to you though.
As for Dogmeat, it's a glitch. I never had it on the 360 or on the PC version. Get a patch, or if you're using the PS3 version, lol you asked for it.
Will be back later to talk about GTA IV.

Is it just with the PS3? Because, dude, this game was glitchy as hell. Froze up on me lots of times and shit.
I found a Game of the Year version of the game for PS3, with all the extra stuff. Has everything. But reviewers at amazon are saying...you guessed it...it's glitchy as hell
I would like to play the game again in this more comprehensive version, though. One thing I missed was the 4th super mutant behemoth. My friend at work who played the game said there are four of them. I only found three

Re: What are you playing now?
The PC and 360 are still glitchy, but nowhere near on the same level as the PS3 version. Don't ever get a ported game for the PS3, the PS3 is a bitch fuck of a system when it comes to porting. Best to stick with games either which were originally released for the PS3 (along with other consoles/platforms) or the PS3 exclusives.
As for driving in GTA IV, I don't see how you can have difficulty seeing where you're going. Care to elaborate? There are four camera angles, two of which are a little clumsy (Action Cam and First-person), but the other two are pretty standard views for any driving game.

Re: What are you playing now?
I'll have to try GTA IV again. It's been quite a while, so my memory is hazy. But in San Andreas, I thought the camera was too low, if I recall, and more so in IV, so I couldn't see what was ahead of me as I drove. Also had trouble in IV seeing where I was going as I went around corners. I'm pretty sure I tried the different views, but didn't find any to my liking. I'm always a little frustrated when I first start a game as learn and become accustomed to the controls. Eventually I'll get the hang of things. But with GTA IV, I just couldn't get past this initial hurdle

You can change the angle. Using the mouse to look around is definitely easier than on consoles, but the fuctionality should still be there.

Re: What are you playing now?
One glitch that despite several versions being released of 360 is that sometimes it wont read the game and will say open tray. I use a combination of putting DVD in instead of a game (that works believe it or not not always but most of the time) switching the power on and off and the onslow method (take game out and hit the consoleThe Mad Hatter wrote:360 are still glitchy, .

Apart from that i love my 360.

It is, for 3 seconds and then it reverts to the same angle. Which is particularly annoying when driving a fire-truck.The Mad Hatter wrote:You can change the angle. Using the mouse to look around is definitely easier than on consoles, but the fuctionality should still be there.

Check options, there might be something which is causing it to centre...
I don't get that problem on the pc. Are you changing view modes as well?

Re: What are you playing now?
I too just finished EFLC. TLAD left me a little underwhelmed, and the story was too short, but then the whole biker culture thing leaves me cold anyway. It was fun so far as it went, but I didn't find anyone in the game particularly interesting. The Mad Hatter wrote:Just finished GTA IV: Episodes of Liberty City.
"The Ballad of Gay Tony" and "The Lost and the Damned"
I must admit, neither of them have the same charisma as the original, and neither Luis or Johnny have the same charm as Niko as a character. They have a couple of new features, such as the Parachute in TBoGT, or the ability to call backup in TLatD, but neither of these seem to be interesting enough to keep you there. The games aren't paced nearly half as well, and while GTA IV took me about a week to finish, both TBoGT and TLatD took four days for both of them, switching between one and the other when I got bored.
It was interesting seeing certain parts of the stories from different perspectives, and characters you hated - like Johnny - when playing the Original suddenly became someone you empathised with and understood.
All that's left now is to get, play and complete Red Dead Redemption.
On the other hand, I really enjoyed TBOGT. The characters were better (especially Yusuf Amir and Mori Kibbutz), the plot was better, the weapons were better (I ♥ my shotgun with explosive shells) and some of the missions, especially later on, bear comparison with the better missions of GTA IV. There was also a bit more of the old humour that was missing from both GTA IV and TLAD.

Re: What are you playing now?
The Humour in GTA IV was 'ambiance' - all the radio stations, advertisements, oneliners Niko would pop out when you hijacked someone.
It was recycled in TLAD and TBoGT, not quite as funny the umpteenth time around.
TBoGT had one massive flaw - Helicopter missions.

Now, see, I love my helicopter missions.
Except that one mission where you had to hijack the 'copter and blow up the boats, that took me ages.

The big boat was easy, it is getting those small boats after the big boat sank. In the end I just killed the bad guys on land.

Re: What are you playing now?
I was unable to finish my second play-through of Fallout 3. I seem to have fucked things up by getting Fawkes (now that I knew where he was) and, as a consequence, getting the G.E.C.K. early on. I wasn't able to complete the mission where I help my father at the Jefferson Memorial. I couldn't get down that grate to get to the water valve. I talk to my father over the intercom, and he says he can't help me because he has no idea where I am
And the prompt at the grate says I need a lockpick ability of 100 to get through it, and my lockpick is at 98
The blue force fields are up around the place, too, as if the very last mission with the giant robot were already triggered. Except I can't even get into the fortress, or whatever it's called. I've been trying to get in there because I wanted power armor. But I can't get in there for a mission, much less the power armor.
One place I could never figure out how to get into was...well I can't remember the name. Gut it was guarded by guys in power armor. I gave one of them a shitload of laser rifles. He likes me now. But he still won't let me into the place he's guarding
Maybe if I were wearing power armor he'd let me in? I dunno. But I picked the lock to the place and ran in, just to see what was in there. There appeared to be quite a lot in there. But I was killed pretty quickly, so I don't know precisely what
Anyway, so I just put in the new Final Fantasy game. Stunning graphics. I hate the camera
And I have no idea what I'm doing
In battle, I just press "X" repeatedly. It seems to have worked so far. I'm meant to select certain things, though, if I want to fight properly, and I need to select a certain thing if I want to use a potion. Only problem is, the printing on the things I'm supposed to select are so fucking small that I can't read them
So...frustration.

Re: What are you playing now?
Just got Splinter Cell: Conviction. Enjoyable. I love stealth games; planning and executing something without a glitch. But in SC:C, I even managed to enjoy it when I didn't do it perfectly, which was a nice change. It was slightly more action-focused than previous versions in the series, but you still couldn't play it like a shooter. It was good that they tried something different as well.
I think you're talking about the Brotherhood of Steel Rebel HQ (or similar), tattchu. There's nothing in there, if IRC. You should visit the upper right corner of the map, though. There's an awesome place there
F3s probably one of my favourite games. I liked the amount of choice you get in it, compared to other games, other RPGs, even. The closest competitor (other than earlier Fallout games) is probably Mass Effect, but the RPG elements aren't as... hardcore, especially in ME2, which was disappointing. That one was almost divided in to levels, whereas an open world always seemed more suited to RPGs, to me. There was less freedom, as well. You can't kill innocents, let alone quest-givers, and the whole things seemed much more scripted than was possible in F3. It was a great game, just... different
(fake) EDIT: Oh, Oblivion. But that was basically Fallout with swords.
By the way, are there any MP games you meet up on?
