Some of the comments on that article are just stupid. One blames atheism for Millennials. Another comes straight in saying that kids now are "pussies and wimps". Which is funny, cause they said that about the hippies.

That kids are alright. They'll be alright. As much as old codgers are bemoaning the youth of today being different to their day, the youth are looking back remarking on how utterly clueless the old folk seem. And so the cycle continues.

I am mindful of that tendency.

And, yes, indeed, there were doubts about "The Greatest Generation" in 1940, when Americans were thought to be "too soft" to fight. So, i get it. I really do.

Perhaps I am just too inundated with the portion of the Millennial population that are pussies and wimps and whiners. I'm sick of all the news reports about everything being sexist, and racist, and problematic.

I'll certainly keep my mind open that I may be the codger who is bitching about "these kids today!" But, I don't know... i think this may be a generation of codgers who are right about the punks. At least in terms of how to take care of themselves....

Maybe your reportage is right and kids really are screwed in America. Irish kids todays are such stand up kids as far as I can see. And I see them on the bus every day going into work. So much more polite and well groomed than we were. Stats show that they drink and take drugs less too.

I guess it's possible we're a generation behind America, progressively, and that this generation are going to breed a load of little monsters.

Why wouldn't he? As far as I know nether of them would affect your insurance. Not like drinking, smoking, or working jobs considered dangerous.

I had no idea about health insurance. Never went to a doctor between age 12 and 21. In grad school they gave me insurance. I used it once.

Changing a tire isn't even a skill. The first time I was asked to do one in work (I've never owned a car myself) I didn't want to look stupid by saying I didn't know how so I just took the jack and the cross wrench and just did it.

How so? You lift that car. Take off the bolts. Change the tire. Bolt it back up. Lower.

Yep, sounds like you did it wrong. You generally need to ease the studs back before lifting, and when you put them back on you need to tighten them in an oppositional pattern to make sure the wheel is aligned right. You also need to put the jack in the right spot or you could damage the car.

This is the usual way older generations interact with younger generations. It will happen with future generations too.

It does seem to be an American thing. You see so little of this in Australia, like Ireland.

I can't stand the use of "like" instead of "er" or commas, and I hate the stupid fucking question mark at the end of everything.

They talk like fucking retarded children at the age of 25, they know fuck all about anything that doesn't pertain to their chosen "career", their hair is fucking stupid, they don't swear or drink enough, and they just don't give a fuck about anything.
