But they are virtually the only one of my 70s bands still touring. Rolling Stones final tour coming, but 3 hour drive. This one I can have dinner and a show all in 4 hours total.

Have plans to drag the wife to Jorma/Hot Tuna once, last 10 years has not worked.

there were no Canadian record companies in 1974, it was just an outpost of American marketing

Why the rush? heh You're not far from Chicago, right?
Srsly, every hour you're doing something you want to do has to be added to the + column, so why aren't you making weekends in the city around great artists in smaller venues instead of 4-hour dinner/show at hockey rinks?

Festival season's coming up too. Some have great sound and great artists. And usually cheaper and better refreshments and memorabilia.

Decided to post this instead of Back in the Goodle Days...

My drving is poor. Not even going to Stones in KC.

There's some place North of Chicago that has folk music I'd like to see.

Follow the acts you like on their web pages. Arrange logistics among friends or hippie busses. Maybe fly to catch Carlton at the Blue Note, or Sam Bush at Telluride.
Some people fly fish...some have great concert wardrobes...

(Classic Rock) Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson hopes the band will continue to play live shows after what's believed to be their final tour. And while he's previously talked up the chances of making another album, he's now discussed the possibility of two.
Rush are currently on the road across North American on a trip that manager Ray Danniels has said is "most likely the last of this magnitude." But Lifeson tells Guitar Center: "I could still see us going out and doing a special run - a couple of weeks here and there, those sort of things.

"We haven't discussed that but, I could see that happening. And possibly making another album or two. We love playing together and we really enjoy that aspect of our relationship."

Surprising the tour sound is still this and that as heard in Buffalo
I enjoyed the show, but the acoustics at the FNC are horrendous. I could barely make out what songs were being played for the entire first hour because of the distortion of sound floating upward. Geddy Lee's voice was nearly drowned out by the reverberations from Peart's percussions. While it may have been a "sold-out" venue, hockey arenas are no place for masterful musicians like Rush. At least the band gives their fans their money's worth in time spent on stage.

2 Canadian kids OUTSIDERS in school. Without easy access to guns in Canada at the time they had to turn to ROCK instead of becoming mass murderers
Lee and Lifeson were "outsiders" growing up.
"We connected and we bonded," says Lifeson. "We were friends in grade nine, for example, in a class of 30 kids, and we were not friends with anybody in that class, except the two of us. So we were outsiders, but not in that sense of being ostracized or shut out or something. We just kind of hung out, and we felt like everybody else was a jerk. We were doing our own thing, and then we had the bond of music and all of that stuff. And also having the same kind of background with our parents. Yeah, we connected right off the bat. It's amazing. We're still the same. We're best buds. We've lived close to each other for the last 20 years."
