It does not, and the report report on that post is being closed.

I started this thread, so screw you.
That's not saying much, as you're not much of a human being at all.Ronja wrote:

This isn't the first time that Ronja has launched unprovoked attacks at me.Ian wrote:It does not, and the report report on that post is being closed.
It certainly does, the mischaracterization of her post as a simple and innocent "suggestion" aside.
Please address the matter rather than just fucking "closing the report" without even the courtesy of a PM to explain the decision.
A comment such as Ronja's, from a moderator (if I am correct that she is one -- I believe at a minimum she was one) is fucking ridiculous. It wasn't just a "suggestion" that it was "turn off". It was namecalling and uncalled for.
With due respect, your decision here, Ian, is a crock.
Re: Anne Romney Hasn't Worked A Day in Her Life
I don't see any name-calling. What name do you feel you've been called?
Libertarianism: The belief that out of all the terrible things governments can do, helping people is the absolute worst.
Re: Anne Romney Hasn't Worked A Day in Her Life
This was not a unilateral decision on my part. This was the result of some staff discussion. And the reason you didn't get a PM from me is because this simply isn't a very important matter, and I didn't bother. To be blunt, and I'm only bringing up this point because I think you're likely to gripe about it again, the staff wasn't at all divided about this. Ronja's post did not constitute a personal attack on you.Coito ergo sum wrote:This isn't the first time that Ronja has launched unprovoked attacks at me.Ian wrote:It does not, and the report report on that post is being closed.

CES: I saw no evidence of name-calling. Ronja only passed a comment on your tendency to totally dominate certain threads, which she finds annoying. Your response, however, was a personal attack IMHO.

Obsessive
Creepy
the rules are pretty clear that phrasing them in an oblique manner doesn't change the thing.
My post was oblique too. Like when I said "If you want to see a turn off, look in the mirror," and "fuck off."
My response was no worse than her post.

Good, I take it as read that saying similar things to other people is now fair game? Or, will there be some hair splitting about how when certain people say such things, it's fine?.Ian wrote:This was not a unilateral decision on my part. This was the result of some staff discussion. Coito, I think you should take a look at Ronja's post with a less emotive eye. Yeah, so there's some criticism of you in it, but really, I think you're overreacting quite a lot:Coito ergo sum wrote:Good, I take it as read that saying similar things to other people is now fair game? IMO, when a general thread (as opposed to a "news about my life" type of thread, which has every right to be centered on one or only a few members' posts) has more than 20 % posts by just one member, it's no more a discussion. To me, discussion implies listening, attempting to take in the other person's viewpoint = empathizing and not dominating the scene.

I think Seth is a Cunt. But I am too polite to say that.
I like CES, even though he does tend to bang on a bit

Ronja wears a strap on Carrot - as she is a secret Nun.......and rides Rum like a Gimp boy

And Santa is a Spastic. FACT.
and Anne Romney takes it up the Shitter - from me, with a spoon

Get me to a Nunnery

Re: Anne Romney Hasn't Worked A Day in Her Life
I read coito's response to Ronja as an understandable reaction to her overstepping the line from fair criticism to a personalised go at coito's character. That was uncalled for provocation.
Re: Anne Romney Hasn't Worked A Day in Her Life
Here's a typical moment from my home life:
My 4 year old daughter comes running to me from the other room, crying.
"Jack punched me!"
I hold her hand and walk over to where 4-yr old Jack is and find him looking at a book.
"Jack, did you just hit Skyler?"
"Well... she was trying to take this book... and I wanted to read it first!"
"Jack... did you punch her?"
"Yeah... but I wanted to read the book and she tried to take it!"
"Jack, go to your room! You are never allowed to punch your sisters. You know that!"
Jack stomps off crying. "No fair! She started it! She tried to take my book!"

hayeah .. I can recount many such days in the life of the charlou household
One of the things I like about no moderation is it removes that responsibility for dealing with such issues from a nannying/refereeing authority figure and places it back with the participants ... who are adults here, not children. It really is a breath of fresh air to see people working it out themselves rather than pressing report buttons and playing the 'but he said/she said' and 'that's not fair' game.

Simple solution: get a libertarian to teach your kids about property rights. We did that, and they now know to ask politely rather than try to snatch their sibling's property away like a communist who doesn't believe in private ownership.Ian wrote:Here's a typical moment from my home life:
