It's the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Great Britain is the main island, England, Scotland and Wales. Ever since the last king of Wales died, they have had a "prince" designated as an honorary title, and hence the Prince of Wales, currently Prince Charles.
Wales is part of Great Britain, and before 1922 it was the "United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland." The UK let most of Ireland go, except Northern Ireland. That's why it's "separately mentioned."

Actually, Wales was a kingdom once - for all of eight years - from 1055 until 1063. However, you are right. Wales did not play a part in the union of the crowns. By the time all of it belonged to the English crown, Wales had been a shattered mosaic of several micro-kingdoms. A Kingdom of Wales as such had ceased to exist for almost 500 years.Scot Dutchy wrote:Wales was never a kingdom nor was NI. That is why NI is separately mentioned. Re: Election 2016 Thread
The fact remains, it was, of course, a kingdom at one point, and at other points it was several kingdoms. It had a king, who was deposed by Edward I.
Nevertheless, the name "United Kingdom of..." does not imply that the listed entities were the kingdoms that were united. It's just a reference to the nation being a "United Kingdom --" and the "of" part mentions "Great Britain" (a conglomerate of lands that were over hundreds of years many different kingdoms that eventually unified) and Northern Ireland (that portion of Ireland remaining in the UK after 1922). Ireland, of course, grew out of separate warring kingdoms over the centuries. Northern Ireland as it remains today as a portion of the UK was not itself a "kingdom" in the absolute sense of "the Kingdom of Northern Ireland" -- it's just a chunk of the former Kingdom of Ireland.

Columnist George Will Leaves GOP Over Trump’s “Mexican” Judge Comment

http://www.slate.com/blogs/the_slatest/ ... mment.html
Conservative columnist and commentator George Will has changed his party affiliation and is urging Republicans to do everything they can to make sure Donald Trump does not move in to the White House. “This is not my party,” Will said during a speech to the Federalist Society on Friday. On Fox News Sunday, Will expanded on his reasoning behind switching his voter registration to “unaffiliated” 23 days ago. "After Trump went after the 'Mexican' judge from northern Indiana then (House Speaker) Paul Ryan endorsed him, I decided that in fact this was not my party anymore," Will said.
The conservative columnist and commentator drew parallels between his leaving the GOP and Ronald Reagan. "The long and short of it is, as Ronald Reagan said when he changed his registration, ‘I did not leave the Democratic Party, the Democratic Party left me.’ ”
Trump took to Twitter on Sunday to comment on the issue, calling Will “one of the most overrated political pundits.”

George Will, an old guard conservative. Thinks Roe v Wade was wrong and abortion should be illegal. Thinks higher incarceration rates in the US are a good thing. Doesn't like affirmative action in any way. Supports low taxes because they spur the economy, and wants to abolish the minimum wage, as well as replace social security with voluntary retirement accounts.piscator wrote:Columnist George Will Leaves GOP Over Trump’s “Mexican” Judge Comment
But, he's a "reasonable" republican, not like Trump who thinks the abortion laws are set and should be left the way they are: http://liveactionnews.org/trump-says-we ... tion-laws/ (even if he is personally not a fan of abortion), and he thinks that -- is fine with affirmative action and wouldn't try to end it, doesn't want to abolish the minimum wage (said in March he's open to raising the minimum wage), and won't privatize social security (he promised to save it and not cut it).
But, George Will is the reasonable guy and we should support Republicans like him, rather than the loose cannon, Donald Trump.

She's still fine for her age, but the young Susan Sarandon always has my, um... heart.. or some organ or another:Dan Metcalfe, a Democratic law professor and former Justice Department official, also predicted an indictment in a column in LawNewz, a site run by ABC News legal analyst Dan Abrams.
“Given that the facts and law are so clear in Ms. Clinton’s case, it is difficult to imagine her not being indicted,” wrote Metcalfe, of American University’s Washington College of Law.

More emails released, including deleted ones - http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/wireStor ... d-40168595

"I have just realized I have no idea how my papers are treated at State," Clinton wrote to Abedin and a second aide. "Who manages both my personal and official files? ... I think we need to get on this asap to be sure we know and design the system we want."
the State Department's inspector general concluded Clinton and her team ignored clear internal guidance that her email setup violated federal records-keeping standards and could have left sensitive material vulnerable to hackers.
Clinton never used a government account that was set up for her, instead continuing to rely on her private server until leaving office in 2013. Though Clinton's work-related emails were government records, she didn't turn over copies until more than 30 lawsuits were filed, including one by The Associated Press.
With the new release Monday, more than 50 work-related emails sent or received by Clinton have since surfaced that were not among those she provided.
Dozens of the emails sent or received by Clinton through her private server were later determined to contain classified material. The FBI has been investigating for months whether Clinton's use of the private email server imperiled government secrets. Agents recently interviewed several of Clinton's top aides, including Abedin.
As part of the probe, Clinton turned over the hard drive from her email server to the FBI. It had been wiped clean, and Clinton has said she did not keep copies of the emails she choose to withhold.
Pagliano, who previously worked for Clinton's 2008 presidential campaign, invoked his constitutional right against self-incrimination and declined to answer the committee's questions. In a sworn deposition last week, Pagliano also refused to answer questions posed by lawyers from Judicial Watch, including who paid for the system and who else at the State Department used email accounts on it. Pagliano also would not answer whether he discussed setting up a home server with Clinton prior to her tenure as secretary of state, according to a transcript.
Other State Department officials told congressional investigators that Clinton never responded to internal offers to set her up with an official State account and an agency computer. Patrick Kennedy, the undersecretary for management at the State Department, said Clinton did "not know how to use a computer to do email. So it was never set up."

Moreover, if it's taking the FBI months to determine if HRC broke a law, and they still haven't found anything worth taking to a grand jury, what makes you so sure she did?

Except that doesn't matter under the law, because the person responsible for making those determinations was Hillary Clinton, when she sent an email. There is no clearinghouse of emails where they are screened for classified information. A person with clearance, like Hillary, is responsible for knowing what is and is not classified information. If the idea is that they were not previously determined by someone other than Hillary to be classified material, then nothing she sent ever, on any topic, would be "classified" unless it came from someone else pre-designated as classified. However, when Hillary sends information out, it's part of her fucking job as Secretary of State to know what is and is not classified information.piscator wrote:

Just reading the articles about the situation, and about what was withheld, and the exposure of her lies and obfuscations. She certainly, for example, lied about the reason she set up her private server. That's been made clear by the emails that have come to light, as described in the article. She never used a government server, and she was doing her job as Secratary of State. Is the allegation that she never sent classified information to anyone as Secretary of State? And, she was able to do her job? That's believable to you?piscator wrote:
