LOL, generally speaking, that would be free speech to anyone who thinks every individual has an equal right of free speech.

Leftists seem to think they have the right to say anything and everything THEY want, too. That's why they have no shame in chanting "fuck Trump!" and other "offensive" things (things which someone might find offensive), and they don't even care whose feelings they hurt. Not only do a lot of leftists think they can SAY anything they want - they even think they are allowed - and have a moral imperative to -- hit people who they think are saying, or just believing, the wrong things.

In reality, though, "rightists" of the far right sort don't believe in free speech for everyone. Liberal freedom of speech is not what "rightists" believe. They want to shut down free speech, to shut the leftists up, and to shut the liberals up, and to make everyone toe the line. Fascists do what the leftists do - beat people up to get them to stop mouthing their dangerous ideas. Fascists don't want free speech. Fascists want to shut people up.

Liberals and moderates tend to support broad free speech protections. Leftists and fascists want to silence the opposition, and believe they are morally entitled to silence their opposition.

I just can't believe those leftists think they can say whatever they want. They think they have free speech to burn signs. I mean, where do they get that from?

Oh, right, I remember now, they're the good guys, championing the side of right, and working to save the great oppressed and marginalized groups who have for too long been put upon. So, they get to say and do what they want. Anyone not on their side doesn't get to say what they want, because that would be hate speech and offensive, and free speech is hate speech.

Examples of leftists are communists, socialists (as distinct from social democrats), and the modern day regressive left folks who call themselves "progressives." It's the people who say they have moral right and obligation to beat people up that they don't agree with.

So people who would burn the sign of rank hypocrites also say that we should ban "offensive things"? I only have to provide one example to disprove your link. Me. I'm more than comfortable with the idea of burning the signs of liars and hypocrites but I don't want mere offensive things banned.

I'm functionally a social democrat, and while I wouldn't say people have an obligation to beat people up who are anathema to democracy*, I certainly think that everyone has the moral right to stand up for whatever moral code they find most reasonable for them and society.
