That's why he wants a missile that can hit an American city. The threat of him launching it is power. That power is capital. It can buy things.

I think Trump's upping the pressure on China is one of the few options he has. I'm not sure how you're saying he's been "trolled" here. He has to do something, or the path we're on now will continue and the DPRK will get a working nuclear ICBM that can hit its target.

Unfortunately, I don't think he has any leverage to achieve that.

"Ethics Office Director Walter Shaub Resigns, Saying Rules Need To Be Tougher"

Office of Government Ethics Director Walter Shaub Jr. is turning in his resignation on Thursday.

The move follows months of clashes with the White House over issues such as President Trump's refusal to divest his businesses and the administration's delay in disclosing ethics waivers for appointees.

Shaub, an attorney, has accepted a job with the Campaign Legal Center, a nonpartisan organization of election-law experts.

Thursday morning, Shaub told NPR that "the current situation has made it clear that the ethics program needs to be stronger than it is. At the Campaign Legal Center, I'll have more freedom to push for reform. I'll also be broadening my focus to include ethics issues at all levels of government."

He did not elaborate on what is so wrong with the "current situation," but Shaub has been sharply critical of Trump's approach to ethics compliance since the election.

But, irrespective of what Trump thinks, the US has economic leverage. We're a country of 1/3 the population of China with approximately the same GDP, and China is heavily dependent on trade with the United States. That's leverage.

But, irrespective of what Trump thinks, the US has economic leverage. We're a country of 1/3 the population of China with approximately the same GDP, and China is heavily dependent on trade with the United States. That's leverage.

I don't know which has more leverage than the other, but don't forget that China holds a huge amount of US debt. By ordinary standards, that gives them a huge amount of power. But with the size of the US economy (and its military) the US could just refuse to honour that debt and then China would be fucked. I'm not sure what would happen after that. We'd probably all be royally fucked.
