The funny thing is, the more that once-communist nations were opened up and exposed to the west, the less communist they became... :tea:

The Castro regime has got to go first. They made the mistake of allowing nuclear missiles on their island, and we cannot forgive or forget that.

Point me at a genuine example of a communist state, pray do. All I see is dictatorships under the banner of communism - not one bore any resemblance to the kind of communism envisaged by Marx. Stalinist Russia was far closer to Fascist Germany than anything even as moderately left-leaning as an Australian Labour govt. :tea:

A mistake which was rectified at the time - the missiles were not there for very long...

The regime itself is much more likely to fade away given contact with the west, as opposed to be isolated, and under siege...

If you want Cuba to get rid of the Castro Brothers just give them MickyD's and Starbucks. First one's free, kid.

Wait till they get a load of Netflix, they'll be tearing down Che posters an replacing them with Raylan Givens.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

My mom used this occasion to relate to me how her high school "senior trip" was rerouted to Bermuda due to "Castro coming out of the hills", and how she always felt a little shorted by the whole Cuban Revolution bit.
Maybe we can now right that little malo without having to show that any monies spent in Cuber were in fact profits derived from some business in a 3rd country that have not yet entered the US?

Cool.

Merkins can now visit Cuba, and make up their own minds.

If Communism is so terrible, they can see for themselves.

Why are you worried?
Because removing the embargo empowers the communists to perpetuate the evil they commit on their own people. The purpose of the embargo is to strangle the regime as much as possible without actually going to war against them, which is what we should do.
'cause you got your ass handed to you when you tried to invade last time?

Seriously though, this policy hasn't worked for over 50 years.

Have you not worked out that it is probably not effective?

Perish the thought.

They did get rid of their nukes.

They did get rid of their nukes.
But not the regime responsible for it, which is required prior to normalization of relations with the Cuban people.
When are you going to get rid of yours?
With even a little luck, never. They will sit there forever. But should we need to use them, they will be available.

You see, we are right and good and moral and our strength is the strength of ten because our cause is just.

What you guys have to remember is that we're the good guys. And so we can do anything we want, even torture. Except when we do it it's not torture. Because we're the good guys. And so anything we do, no matter how evil, is not really evil. Not when we do it. It gets transformed into something good by the benefit of us being the good guys. It's really very simple. We do whatever we need to do in our own self-interest, and whatever we do, we know it's inherently good. Because, again, we're the good guys. I don't think I can stress that enough. Yes, it's a beautiful system we've got. The rest of the world doesn't hate us, of course. How can they possibly hate something so pure and perfect and noble? No, you're just jealous. Sucks to be you but, hey, we can't all be perfect like us :smoke:
People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.

But those letters are not silent.

They're just waiting their turn.

Last night I dreamt I smoked a Cuban cigar. Except maybe it wasn't a cigar. Hmm. Sometimes a phallus really is a phallus :ask:
