Wait ... so if you don't opt out - say you don't know about it - it sends those details back?

Seems like this should be an opt in thing, not an opt out thing.

I feel awful to say that I agree with this to an extent. It seems most people are either oblivious or indifferent to anything that doesn't directly affect them enough to cause discomfort. There also seem to be those who are of the opinion that if you don't have anything to hide, you shouldn't mind being spied on.
