they are vienna bread in denmark..wiener bröd
french bread is..."bread" in France
swiss chocolate...they have no cocoa plants
swiss cheese...well, some of it may be Swiss, mine is from Wisconsin

Quite a few European wildflowers actually came from the Near to Middle East, together with the cultivars of the neolithic revolution. I learned such things gradually by reading about them.
ETA: Oh, and, by the way, maize did not originate in North America.

Pepper. I was maybe 14 when I found out pepper and many other spices came from "the Far East". The Spice Island immediately became a destination for me.
