it was in the peanut gallery thread.Uselesstwit wrote:ob is saying that neither of the two we have right below armed were hit by scum last night. Personally i'm not reading much into it, I would have left them alone as well. unfortunately in this game sitting back and watching people under pressure is good for special hunting as well as scum hunting. and as long as we're talking things out, any idea why I was targeted at all? the only thing I can think of is the recruit angel, because otherwise i'm just a dead townie and i'd be hunting specials if I were scum.
Who brought up the recruit idea? and is it backed by anything?

okay so zigmen calls it a very remote chance, so hopefully it won't happen.

Uselesstwit wrote:sorry char, i'm not really vehement, ust feeling a bit tired and that's an idea that really could botch the game for town. I don't think i've ever heard anyone say we should leave it in the hands of the vig before. and especially when we're not even sure there is a vig.
as for the ratio, i'm guessing three, scum blocker, and two point adders, but to be honest i'm not really grasping why the points added dropped last night, unless feck is right and arming scum weakens them and bolero was in fact scum.
It's true that vote spreading can be as beneficial to scum as it is to town, and I'd considered the possibility wrt MZ's promotion of the idea ... but my read of MZ's gameplay in general over the course of the game is town.Magicziggy wrote:I see both points of view. If we go for all out scum hunting, we have the danger of pushing our own over the edge and never knowing.
I guess I'm trying to buy time for all players to be convincing and for the specials to fulfil their roles.
I think the moment I leaned more in favour of vote spreading was when the reality of the number of points a single player can accrue on a single night and presumably from a single night action, hit home ... that was the moment when I understood fuzzy's post on day two about it. It made me think that the town:scum ratio is probably more conventional (rather than the close to 50:50 variation I'd had in mind on day one).
UT, the reason why I had thought vote spreading (in the absence of any obvious notion of who is scum) favours town more than scum is because I think town have the advantage of numbers and town (a vig) and scum both have a hit each night. But here's where my agreement with that falls down: Even if town and scum both have a hit each night, scum know who they're hitting, but a town vig is making a subjective guess. If we have a vig, which I believe we do ... or did ... they've already shown us how wrong we can be to rely on them to make a decision that benefits town. With the possibility that the vig has been recruited by scum (if I'm understanding things correctly), we're now left with our day votes only to try to add points to scum which makes a huge difference to our strategy.
MZ, UT ... what are your thoughts on Feck today?

Re: Timebomb Day 3
I've been feeling kind of defeated tonight. I don't think things are going well for town.
but the same advantages this game gives to scum - the ability to keep voting even after you're "dead", is also an advantage for town, and town started with the numerical advantage.
gib is a cypher. and the white-knighting that irre does every time someone questions his participation/substance is setting off alarms almost more than the lack of read I have on him atm.
The change in Feck's play today is alarming, but I think we at least have him on the radar.
MZ continually creeps further into the townish column.
We're just going to have to live with praying and her votes, and later if we think we can afford to lose another town, she'd be a good one to use some insurance on unless something changes.
I hope we have a seer and they can come forward in another day or two with some reads on players who aren't already armed or nearly armed.

We need to get all the scum, and have at least one town player standing when it's over.
Maybe it's not as bad as I think.

Re: Timebomb Day 3
feck's post when asked about last night, raised some huge alarm bells, and I mean huge. But i think if there is a recruitment mechanic it's tied to the code words, but feck has only ever shown the first letter of his. If scum managed to guess authorized for just seeing the a, this game is truly, truly broken somewhere.

My support for my own ideas remain because new info may be forthcoming.
Feck? who knows. He didn;t blink at the comment about his codeword.

and where the hell is everyone, the login error seems fixed but gonzo, gib, aza and mantis have pretty much been no shows.

Re: Timebomb Day 3
Yeah, I know the feeling ... it's being armed that weights the thinking that way, I think. I've been trying to keep in mind the number of town who I think are still okay at this point. I think we've lost more town than scum, but we're still a little ahead ... but, if I'm reading things right wrt recruitment, scum seem to have all the fire power at night now, too.oblivion wrote:I've been feeling kind of defeated tonight. Of course, people's reveals over the course of the game are factoring into my reads, ideas and assumptions about what's going on.

gib is in the UK. he was still having access problems around midnight his time. Hoping he'll show up early tomorrow morning his time. mantis is probably at work. she didn't show up until well after nightfall last night. I havent figured out gonzo's usual drop by times, but he seems to post a lot when I'm sleeping and during my morning time.Uselesstwit wrote:and where the hell is everyone, the login error seems fixed but gonzo, gib, aza and mantis have pretty much been no shows.

meta here: Feck would be a popular scum choice for recruitment.Uselesstwit wrote:feck's post when asked about last night, raised some huge alarm bells, and I mean huge. The more I think about it the more i'm starting to suspect irre. The vote thing last night as well as deciding to arm gonzo today is really feeling like a scum taking advantage of an opportunity.
