WASHINGTON — Phone records and intercepted calls show that members of Donald J. Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign and other Trump associates had repeated contacts with senior Russian intelligence officials in the year before the election …

American law enforcement and intelligence agencies intercepted the communications around the same time they were discovering evidence that Russia was trying to disrupt the presidential election by hacking into the Democratic National Committee ... The intelligence agencies then sought to learn whether the Trump campaign was colluding with the Russians on the hacking or other efforts to influence the election.

The officials said the intercepted communications were not limited to Trump campaign officials, and included other associates of Mr. Trump. On the Russian side, the contacts also included members of the government outside of the intelligence services ... All of the current and former officials spoke on the condition of anonymity because the continuing investigation is classified.

The call logs and intercepted communications are part of a larger trove of information that the F.B.I. is sifting through as it investigates the links between Mr. Trump’s associates and the Russian government, as well as the hacking of the D.N.C., according to federal law enforcement officials. As part of its inquiry, the F.B.I. has obtained banking and travel records and conducted interviews, the officials said.

Much as Obie's NPP was totally unearned, there's not going to be any for frummp, unless he actually single handedly resolves the Ukrainian crisis, plus the Syrian and Iraqian ones, gets all interested parties to agree to the creation of a new country of Kurdistan, and turns Somalia into a real country with effective state of law.

$20 says you're wrong on Trump for a Nobel Peace Prize.

The idea of committing 'treason for peace' is about as coherent as the idea of a 'humanitarian war'.

washingtonpost.com wrote:Justice Department warned White House that Flynn could be vulnerable to Russian blackmail, officials say

The acting attorney general informed the Trump White House late last month that she believed Michael Flynn had misled senior administration officials about the nature of his communications with the Russian ambassador to the United States, and warned that the national security adviser was potentially vulnerable to Russian blackmail, current and former U.S. officials said.

The message, delivered by Sally Q. Yates and a senior career national security official to the White House counsel, was prompted by concerns that Flynn, when asked about his calls and texts with the Russian diplomat, had told Vice President-elect Mike Pence and others that he had not discussed the Obama administration sanctions on Russia for its interference in the 2016 election, the officials said. It is unclear what the White House counsel, Donald McGahn, did with the information.

Kind of makes sense why Trump was so keen to sack the Attorney General, and when I say 'sack' I don't mean grab her by the water cooler.

It's interesting that Trump and his pals are trying to make Flynn's resignation about 'leaks' rather than the treasonous actions of the White House's most senior security insider.

NYT

Trump campaign aides had repeated contact with Russian intelligence during the 2016 campaign according to four current and former American officials. Phone records and intercepted calls show that the communications happened around the same time evidence was discovered that Russia was trying to disrupt the presidential election by hacking into the Democratic National Committee. U.S. intelligence agencies sought to learn whether the Trump campaign was colluding with the Russians on the hacking or other efforts to influence the election. They have seen no evidence of such cooperation, so far. (New York Times)

So, if just a fraction of the newest proofs are real, he deserves the capital punishment for treason! If this were in Russia, this is definitely what he could expect.
It is one thing his staff talking to Russian secret service, another thing he knows about it and rejoices!

U.S. national security officials are reportedly ready to “go nuclear” after President Donald Trump’s latest attack on the intelligence community.

In a series of tweets on Tuesday and Wednesday, Trump insisted that the “real scandal” was not that former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn lied about his contact with Russia. Instead, the president blasted what he said were “un-American” leaks that led to Flynn’s ousting.

I expect mass arrests of Obama loyalist spooks. Could it lead even up to Obama?

Congress will have some tough questions for them, not only (illegally) spying on Presidential campaign staff, but then illegally leaking the information to the press? Is the Ecuadorian embassy in D.C. nicer and bigger than the one in London? :hehe:
