State schools 'not providing group worship'

Another outdated, unpopular and unenforced law that needs to go?
Many state schools in England are not providing group worship, despite legislation making it a requirement, a survey suggests.

The Comres survey for BBC local radio found 64% of the 500 parents questioned said their child did not attend daily acts of collective worship.

But 60% of the 1,743 adults asked said the legislation should not be enforced.

That's good to know. Perhaps it's only a matter of time before we see it dropped.

Funny how your State governors can hold prayer meetings and government posts can be filled with graduates from bible colleges though , not to mention the numbers of science denying creotards in the population . :sadcheer:

The Constitution is a federal document, not a state document. It's not quite as clear cut as Tory vs. Labor.

The prayer meetings are "voluntary association," and the burden of proof is on the state or the plaintiff, not on the defendant.

The general population is immaterial; this is about government.

A sorry state of affairs, but one it's difficult to see a way to fix other than to educate people, or take it to court. With so many people religious, whose "morals" allow them to vote on juries against the truth, there's no easy way.
