The Fairy Feller's Master-Stroke

Post by Elessarina » Mon Aug 16, 2010 10:03 am

I made a pilgrimage down to the Tate yesterday to see this painting. I was very excited about it and being a Queen fan really anticipating seeing it for the first time. I had heard great things about it and have read a fair bit about Richard Dadd and his state of mind when he painted it..

I can honestly say I was so disappointed and felt almost nothing upon seeing it.. the painting was much smaller than I expected and not especially impressive and the colours were a little dull... .. I had to go by the National Gallery just to get my Whistlejacket and Joseph Wright fix to get me over the disappointment.

It's tiny and rather grey... but still would be interesting, I think.

You should have put your Freddy on before looking at it. :hehe:

Like I said, you have to be Freddy when you look at it. Difficult for a female, male, or just about anything in between, I admit. :hehe:
