This is something that I probably wouldn't disagree with. However, using a real website as a substitute for a forum is also sloppy and lazy.
+1

And stupid. Reinventing the wheel when there are perfectly good solutions out there for little or no cost.

YES! The forum was a big help for me in discussions with some creationist relatives and friends of mine, and I always felt like - maybe - I would be able to 'help' the occasional creationist/biblical literalist that came over to the forum (and I think we actually did help at least a few). Apparently, rd.net wasn't meant to actually help anyone.

Couldn't agree more. I spend time posting in the places that I do because I figure that someone, somewhere, might just read something I write and enjoy a life of free thinking as a result. No doubt most others do the same.

FYI, some of the comments to Front Page articles read, "if you are reading this, you are the resistance." The remarks could pertain to the articles, or.....

Hah, I just thought; anyone up for re-starting the 'Are you Proud to be a Member of RDF?' thread? :ask:

What do we want?
Gradual change!
When do we want it?
In due course!

She believes Camp Quest to be a cult-like camp that indoctrinates children, yet six years ago she sent me to a Christian camp every year for four years when I questioned my Christian faith at the age of ten.

Well, I leave this to the Richard Dawkins forum users. I wish to hear your opinions voiced on this matter.
Posted barely an hour before the forum was locked.

Well sorry Mr Squeezin apparently your predicament doesn't matter now please kindly stop wasting our internet space.

In the begining there was nothing. Which then exploded.

On the bright side, the Dawkins forum is running like a dream now! Without all those pesky members searching through the site and making posts, I haven't have a General Error all day!

Hey guys, another survivor checking in. For some reason Firefox keeps logging me out right away when I log in, anyone know why? I have to use IE to post now.

Anyway, what happened with the RD.net forum was ridiculous, and I hope Richard doesn't know the details, or else I have lost a lot of respect for him. On another note, thanks for welcoming newcomers. I don't know if this is the place for me yet (I enjoyed a lot of the argumentative aspects of RD.net, and I don't know if the community here is going to be the same or not) but thanks for giving me a place to hang out none the less. I'll try not to ruin the carpet while I hang around getting the feel of the place :).

Yeah, well... my toilet flush doesn't give me any general erros either. Not like I can learn anything from it, either, though.

I've stuck peter's entire blog post up at the JREF Forums and linked to the page too.

It's important to get that blog out there, it's excellent.
