Hello all. I am yet another person who has ended up here courtesy of the planned changes and subsequent shutdown of the richarddawkins.net forums.
Just a little about myself, I am an ex-Mormon who began to disbelieve in my early teens but stuck with it both to appease my almost entirely Mormon family and whilst I explored apologetic arguments for the numerous criticisms of the Mormon religion. It wasn't that long before I was pretty certain the church wasn't true, though the transition to atheism took a little longer. I still attend church as I am living at home and do not wish to cause family friction, but I have made it clear to the ward bishop that I have ceased believing in the church and have intention to leave in the near future. I have yet to decide whether I will pull my name from the records or leave them intact and simply walk away (again from a perspective of family appeasement).
At the moment I am on a gap year having decided to switch from Medicine to Cell and Molecular Biology in what many people have told me is a bizarre move, but I am pretty sure it is the right one for me. Ironically, I hope to end up in medical research of some sort.
I look forward to exploring and eventually making my own contributions.
