Bangladesh...this is going to end badly

Post by Tero » Sat Jan 18, 2020 1:09 pm

There are some 3000 people per square mile. The sea is rising. They cannot go East to Indian lands, as those are just as poor and will also lose land. They can only move North.
Economy is...see

Major city of 20 million is only 4m above sea level

The North end sticks into areas controlled by China.

Said Daemon, who's sorry too, but y'see we didn't have no choice
And our hands they are many and we'd be of one voice

More Bangladeshis earn their living from agriculture than from any other sector. The country is among the top producers of rice (fourth), potatoes (seventh), tropical fruits (sixth), jute (second), and farmed fish (fifth).[273][274] Bangladesh is the seventh-largest natural gas producer in Asia, ahead of neighbouring Myanmar, and 56 percent of the country's electricity is generated by natural gas.

Of course it's going to end badly. Nothing has ended any other way in Banladesh since there's actually been a Bangladesh.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

A city in the N end of Bangladesh
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rangpur,_Bangladesh
Would survive the rising water. 10 million people metropolitan. Except due to refugees from the South, density will go over 5000/km^2 overall. It is already twice that in urban areas. Nordic countries have a max density, Helsinki or Stockholm, of 5000. As does Amsterdam.

There will be a lot of people sleeping on foam mattresses on the floors of relatives. Water use may be controlled.

We had wrestling in high school, freshman year. The gym teacher had all of us paired most of the time. In any case I never wrestled any but the only Mexican kid in school. His last name on the shirt was Tella. We were the worst two wrestlers but so evenly matched they had a hard time declaring a winner. The other kids looked forward to it. It was the only time ever that I was cheered in a sport.
