China is so big ANYTHING it does dwarfs anything done elsewhere... small is not their way of doing stuff.
And anything it does not do creates far more problems than anyone else. We have to take their word on everything.

nothing they do causes problem, the Communist party never takes bad decisions and always foresees any side effects of what they do!

China is run like a technocracy. Science plays a much bigger role there than elsewhere.

That’s a huge advantage strategically for them - for better or worse. Any large infrastructure job here gets bogged down by planning bodies, legal challenges and appeals, NIMBYism, bureaucracy and endless reviews. In China they just do it if the powers that be want it. I’m not saying that’s a good thing but once they really decide to go zero carbon, or close to it, they can pull all the stops out.

Support for Extinction Rebellion in the UK has quadrupled in the past nine days as public concern about the scale of the ecological crisis grows.

Since the wave of protests began more than a week ago, 30,000 new backers or volunteers have offered their support to the environmental activist group. In the same period it has raised almost £200,000 – mostly in donations of between £10 and £50 – reaching a total of £365,000 since January.

The group said the figures showed the public was waking up to the scale of the crisis, adding that pressure was growing on politicians to act...

Scotland becomes first country to declare a climate emergency. Good for them.

I've been seeing various versions of 'Chicken Little' screaming about the sky falling. When I was a kid, we were going to run out of food. Then, trees were going to be gone, few decades later, and wealthy politicians start the 'global warming climate change' chant, get rich off it, and everyone forgets how good (or bad) their 'predictions' are.

My guess is, the predictions are heavily influenced by peoples politics, preferences and laziness. Just look at those protesters and their fashion choices, if you want to see how they really care for the earth.

It is actually quite easy. A woman has at least one X chromosome.

It's very simple. This global warming is simply an immune system reaction from mother earth. She is being infected by a parasitic organism, us, and the first reaction an immune system is to raise the temperature around the infected area to incapacitate the foreign body. Killer cells move in, like ebola, black death and Trump to harvest the weakened intruders. Next comes a rash or a swelling that eventually erupts. Look for volcanic activity. Finally, the area of contamination is cut off from all sources of nourishment, causing it to deteriorate and decay. Crop failures, wars and other autoimmune system reactions will take care of the rest, until only about 0.01% of the intruder remains, permanently weakened and hiding in trees. :prof:

I predict that your description will be so accurate, that those tree-hiding survivors will treat it like a prophecy.

(no timeline provided, of course, but prophecies need to be vague enough to capture the hearts and minds of voters)

Actually, the predictions are based on science, a subject clearly unknown to you...

Hansen1988vsGISSthru2016.jpg
Predition made by James Hansen in 1988. The red represents a ramping up of CO2. The blue represents business as usual. The green represents people taking action and curbing CO2 back in '88. The black is observed reality.

Hansen's business as usual scenario is a little high for a couple of reasons. One being that he factored in CFC, which was banned in the 90s. Other than that he was pretty spot on.

This is all physics and therefore calcuable within margins of error.
