Cunt, despite a previous warning, you have made a series of posts which are viewed by the moderators as malicious trolling. Examples include:

http://www.rationalia.com/forum/viewtop ... 9#p1818489

http://www.rationalia.com/forum/viewtop ... 5#p1818545

You are thus suspended for one week. A continuation when you return will result in further suspensions.

Given that you were warned for trolling, and that your response was to troll the moderators, this suspension can be regarded as self inflicted.
Wow - that's against the rules?
Yes. Intentional, malicious trolling is against the rules. Are you by any chance arguing that our member from Yellowknife has not engaged in this on a continual basis?
I'm arguing that he's not doing anything that isn't regularly done to him.

I also see such shit-posting and trolling done to me as well, and in a far more direct and profane way.

Look at one of the reports that got him the week suspension. He was RESPONDING to being mocked falsely for having "Tourettes." He responded with a shit-post retort, which didn't even directly attack a specific person - just referred to "some of you." And, alluded to the view that some appear to be defending Islam.

Why would he get suspended and the shitposter who said his Tourettes was acting up wouldn't?

And, all the times I'm accused these days of being a Russian troll, and other nasty comments.
You do know the difference between ad homs and trolling, don't you? I have kept reporting him for the latter. Saying stuff like "your country is governed by Sharia law", "you submit to Islam" and similar statements are not instances of trolling. When they are repeated dozens of times, they are.

For the record, I have also reported both Scott Dutchy and rEv for their recent flame war and I think I have reported the former for his repeated nonsense about you being a Russian agent. I have joined this forum on the day it went public. Though others - including myself - have engaged in occasional trolling I have only regarded one member as doing that on a continuous, intentional and malicious basis.

Clearly, Cunt is not permitted milquetoast shit-taking against other posters here, but if you look at what you guys let others get away toward him, and others, it's not even close.

This is some serious bullshit right here, JimC. You know it, I suspect.

He posted that he says it's funny that others defend Islam here? He's not allowed to shit-post a little, like others do here?

Come on Rationalia moderators. You're better than this.
A little milquetoast shit-taking? You're fucking kidding, and if you think that his trolling is not even close compared to what others get away toward him, keep reporting the relevant posts. It took me maybe a dozen (I did not keep count on them) reports to convince the mods that our member from Yellowknife needs to be given a suspension for his trolling. I will keep reporting his rule infractions until he changes his ways after returning from one of them. You can do the same concerning other members. Our mods are not deaf to reason.
That hasn't been my experience.
So, what is your experience? How many times were you suspended since you posted 32,040 times as Coito ergo sum, starting nine years ago and 14230 times when you started your second account as Forty Two five years later? How many warnings and how many suspensions was our member from Yellowknife given during his ten year membership? Do you know how many warnings and suspensions rEvolutionist has racked up in his nine years since he joined? FFS, I have been issued a formal warning.

There isn't a clear difference. Trolling is when people say things to get a rise out of another poster. An ad hominem is a logical fallacy where one is arguing a point by attacking the opponent instead of addressing the argument. Scot Dutchy calling me a Russian Troll is not an ad hominem, technically, since he's not saying that his argument is right or mine wrong because I'm a Russian Troll. It may or may not be trolling, because the definition of trolling depends in part on subjective intent. If it's not trolling, then it's just an insult or a personal attack (which may or may not be trolling or ad hominem).

How about misrepresenting my views by calling me a conservative over and over again? Calling me a Russian Troll over and over again? Insulting me over and over again? Telling me in various ways that I'm a terrible, horrible person? It's a constant stream directed at me -- I used to report stuff - I'd almost never get a result. One time someone reported me for posting a humorous meme image as part of a piss-take, and I was issued a warning. In my view, there are different standards applied, and I would just ask moderators to try to be evenhanded about it. I guess there is no obligation to be evenhanded, but it sucks to have to sit there and take a bunch of shit, but the minute a comment is made in response, then the Mods jump into action - and that's what it seems like happens to me. I've seen much worse leveled at Cunt than what he's just been suspended for.

Well, generally, we don't think our own trolling is continuous, intentional and malicious enough to warrant action, and generally trolling against a deserving target is viewed less critically. It has always seemed rather odd that "trolling" would become, on this forum, any sort of an issue. I've been accused of trolling because one forum member doesn't like my viewpoint on a topic. And, this forum is supposed to be fun, with broad capacity for shit-posting and such. Trolling falls into that area.

Well, I don't get suspended, because I tend to stay within the rules. When I've reacted badly, it's always been in response to particularly vicious items directed at me. I.e., what I recall is having post after post of personal attacks against me, and when I retort, then the mods jump in. That's what it seems like.

Now, granted - this isn't the biggest issue in the world, and I respect JimC and I understand how hard it is to be a moderator, and I assume people have good intentions, etc. So, I'm not going to go much more on and on about it. All I'm asking for is for there to be consistency. If the mods think they are, in fact, applying rules consistently, so be it. It's been a long while since I've reported posts, even where they are clearly beyond the rules - I did so twice today to demonstrate what I'm talking about to the mods. They will either take action or not. If not, that's cool. I've said my peace and it's done.

For what it's worth, most everyone here I like, or I wouldn't keep posting here. The banter and the arguments are fun. To me, it's nothing personal. I think Cunt gets a bad rap sometimes, as I think Seth did. Some of it is likely based on their delivery. I think the moderators work hard, and they don't need the bitching and moaning about what they do. So, I'll not keep belaboring it.

Written by a Muslim. Edward FitzGerald mistranslated it. The accurate translation of Omar Khayyám's sentence is "Let's all put on our suicide vests and bomb the shit out of all infidels who attempt to enter our no go zones, such as Haldon Street, Lakemba".

Shut the fuck up. If our member from Yellowknife can argue from inside a fact-free bubble and draw absurd conclusions from irrelevant facts, why can't I?

So: Omar Khayyám was born in Iran. That makes him a Muslim.

It's his attempt at trolling (the time delay between Russia and wherever). And while Dutch trolling is usually the best trolling, sadly in this case it's just fucking lame.

Northern Australian waters are a no-go zone in Summer due to jellyfish, and in the far north all year round due to crocodiles.
