They've also just announced a space solar array. Will collect vastly more solar energy than earth based installations.
How do they plan to get it down here? As things stand you can’t ‘beam’ electricity.

Sounds a fair way off yet. Plus you wouldn’t want to fly through one of those beams!

..and thanks, feeling better today as I hope you are.

We've defeated another species!

'Our little brown rat': first climate change-caused mammal extinction
https://www.smh.com.au/environment/clim ... 50yry.html
The Morrison government has formally recognised the extinction of a tiny island rodent, the Bramble Cay melomys - the first known demise of a mammal because of human-induced climate change.

The changed status of the Melomys rubicola from the government's "endangered" to "extinct" category was included without fanfare in a statement released by federal Environment Minister Melissa Price late on Monday.

Not that this will change anybody's mind.

'Evidence for man-made global warming hits "gold standard": scientists'
Evidence for man-made global warming has reached a “gold standard” level of certainty, adding pressure for cuts in greenhouse gases to limit rising temperatures, scientists said on Monday.

“Humanity cannot afford to ignore such clear signals,” the U.S.-led team wrote in the journal Nature Climate Change of satellite measurements of rising temperatures over the past 40 years.

They said confidence that human activities were raising the heat at the Earth’s surface had reached a “five-sigma” level, a statistical gauge meaning there is only a one-in-a-million chance that the signal would appear if there was no warming.

Such a “gold standard” was applied in 2012, for instance, to confirm the discovery of the Higgs boson subatomic particle, a basic building block of the universe.

“Based upon our current assessment of the science, the threat does not seem to be an existential one on the time scale of the 21st century, even in its most alarming incarnation.”

I referred to AR5 WGII:

“Every single catastrophic scenario considered by the IPCC AR5 (WGII, Table 12.4) has a rating of very unlikely or exceptionally unlikely and/or has low confidence. The only tipping point that the IPCC considers likely in the 21st century is disappearance of Arctic summer sea ice (which is fairly reversible, since sea ice freezes every winter).”

Is that true?

No. Judith Curry has been on Koch Brothers payroll for years.

I can't even find the table. I've been all over the report --the full report-- since posting that and I can't find the table she's talking about. Table 12-4 doesn't have anything less than medium confidence. Have you seen this table?

I'm going to assume it's because I'm tired. I was tired when I got home from school and should've just gone to bed, but no, I had to mess around with this crap!

Maybe she meant WG1 rather than WG2. There is talk of low confidence in a table 12.4 of WG1's report. I'll have to see tomorrow on the computer.

She is to global warming what Christina Hoff Sommers is to feminism and Donald Trump to swamp draining.

I wish I had her science chops!
Curry is the co-author of Thermodynamics of Atmospheres and Oceans (1999), and co-editor of Encyclopedia of Atmospheric Sciences (2002), as well as over 140 scientific papers.

Having scientific "chops" and pandering to denialists and writing for blogs like WattsUpWithThat for money only makes her all the more worse.
