Re: Everything you didn't want to know about Trump and were not afraid to ask
The "zero tolerance" policy started with the Trump administration. It wasn't a "ramping up", it was a change in policy. Previously, children would be separated only if there was reason to believe that they were in danger, or if the adult was believed to be involved in criminal activity (other than crossing illegally, i.e. drug smuggling for example). What the Trump administration started doing was separating everyone caught trying to enter unlawfully. Sessions and Kelly have both stated that this was done deliberately, as a deterrent.Brian Peacock wrote: ↑Thu Sep 27, 2018 9:11 pmI think the policy, which the current administration didn't invent but merely ramped up

Reading comprehension. You need to acquire some.

You distrust, and disbelieve me. If this is important to know, look it up. (It IS important to know, for some. I hope Rum learns about it, and Brian Peacock for some reason. I doubt you would ever make use of it, but learn about it, and pass it on where appropriate)

It's simple. You don't detain them. You identify, set a court date, release.
Do you identify, set a court date, and release? THAT is fucking barbaric..
OK, I READ that the US voters elected Trump on a campaign to secure the borders, and remove crimmigrants from the country.
He is doing it firmly.
It's ok to blame him. He agreed to get shit on when he tossed his hat in the ring, but it is the WHOLE FUCKING COUNTRY who wanted to stop illegal immigration. Well, except the ones exploiting them for cheap labour.
Re: Everything you didn't want to know about Trump and were not afraid to ask
Oh, and thanks to pErvinalia and Sean Hayden for offering their suggestions. There aren't good answers to this, which I am sure they both know.
Their suggestions were both pretty barbaric, as it is easy to see. If I went and took photos of their plan in action, I could certainly paint them as vililans, even though I honestly believe their goal was better treatment of people.
No matter WHAT you do, some people get hurt. Wouldn't you LOVE to be responsible to pick which ones got hurt?
Blame Trump though...even though any one of you could go work in immigration as ICE, or volunteer with refugee organizations, or prisons, or fruit farms, or anywhere else crimmigrants are in need of help.

It was another of those laws that would never be enforced. Until it was.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.
Re: Everything you didn't want to know about Trump and were not afraid to ask
I think that if you would not support a law by shooting someone dead, you should not support it at all.
Laws are terrible power, and can ruin a persons life much more thoroughly than shooting them could.

If when you identify you discover abuse or other criminal activity you move on from there.
If court dates are ignored you move on from there.
If court dates are adhered to you move on from there.

May I impose on your time to ask that you look up the 'metal spoon in the underwear' thing?Brian Peacock wrote: ↑Fri Sep 28, 2018 3:30 pmCome on. You can do better than that. Context man, context.
It is something I wish you knew, and I wish a few others knew, but being seen as a villian, most won't take it in the way they would if you shared it.
I wish you knew it because I think you would only let the info slip to those in your life that would use the information correctly.
Yes I do. So when the spoon is found, and you MUST separate the family (the decision is, of course, yours, but I think you would agree that you 'must') how do you do it? Do you leave kids with their possible abusers while the DNA testing is done? Will you release the family who have been unlawfully living in the US for years (possibly) and just hope they show up?...get it?
If they don't show up in court, what about next time some of them are picked up? Wait to gather the whole family? Or eject them as they are found? (separating families either way)

Re: Everything you didn't want to know about Trump and were not afraid to ask
What has this got to do with separating families step 1?
Yeah, if you ignore your date and you're picked up, and without a good excuse, then bye. Unless someone wants to sponsor you or something, that might be an interesting idea.
As for what you do, you do what we already do in such cases. That's the friggin point. You don't need to separate first thing. When you do need to then treat the children as you would citizens.

Oh yeah, I forgot to add you'll need to dramatically increase spending on the dirty social services.
...hey, am I tripping for noticing a possible connection between the hatred of things like social services and public schools and issues like this?

Yes. Separate all children from whoever they are accompanied by immediately and always.
So, how many of the approximately 2300 Mexican children who were separated and were caged in a matter of a few weeks because they had metallic spoons concealed in their underwear?

Re: Everything you didn't want to know about Trump and were not afraid to ask
So you just separated a family. They were released, as your plan suggested, then they fled, failing to attend their promised court date.Sean Hayden wrote: ↑Fri Sep 28, 2018 4:01 pmWhat has this got to do with separating families step 1?

Now you have picked up some of the family. Do you deport them? Wait to arrest the remaining members?
You separated a family either way.
So if you HAVE to treat crimmigrants as citiens when they are under the age of 18, can you not see this as a way for crimmigrants to exploit a legal loophole?
As for what you do, you do what we already do in such cases. That's the friggin point. You don't need to separate first thing. When you do need to then treat the children as you would citizens.
As to the SS (social services) I have seen, time and time again, abuses by those organizations. They are every bit as corrupt and exploitative as any other humans.
Most people I know who have been supported by the SS would not wish it on their worst enemy.
Most SS workers I know are caring people, trying desperately to do good work, and be respectful of people's dignity.
Weird, huh?
Probably none. This is a new method of crying for help, to be used by victims of human trafficking. It is likely not known to many people, but it does outline a particularly nasty problem. How many...
Sometimes you have to separate families. Sometimes, those needs come up for unexpected and horrible reasons, which will be kept private.
No matter what policy you enact, reporters will be able to take dramatic photos, and tell whatever story they wish. You, as a respectable individual with human dignity in mind, will only be able to respond 'no comment at this time'.
So go work with them, if you want to earn a decent opinion. Or listen to the news, get outraged when they try to get you outraged, and tell everyone that it is your own outrage, and not an opinion directed by a news agency selling Tide pods.

Re: Everything you didn't want to know about Trump and were not afraid to ask
I've already answered your questions. You're not paying attention. The children that must be separated--should be rare btw--get treated as citizens. If family from elsewhere wants to step in they are welcome to. Orherwise they get put into the system and on their way to living as Americans, although not ideally.
As for exploiting the system, hell yes! But again rarely, and with improved social services we can meet the demand. So you can stop your crying, we can do better.
