Working on new non Trump entry for Kari.

Headline needs to be shortened:
"New advertising employee assigned challengin task: find a new angle to explain Charmin toilet paper is stronger."

Hint: no clear connection to poop to be made, only the term "stronger."

I wrote a new blog post on UBI at 3am in the morning. It's not good enough to promote. The following is the only part of it that I am happy with:
You want capitalism? You need a UBI.

This is the reality of what is facing us.  Capitalism will fail if no one is able to purchase its products and services.  If you want to keep capitalism then you have to find a way to get money into the hands of consumers.  Forget about nonsense moralistic arguments concerning whether it’s “right” to pay someone to do “nothing”.  It’s wrong to knowingly run society into the ground.  Resist the temptation to be swayed by arguments that assert that people will just lounge about and do nothing if they are in receipt of free money.  Even if they did (which past experiments show they won’t), it doesn’t matter, as unemployment will be forced on huge numbers of people whether they want it or not.  And in any case, what’s more important?  Someone’s right to get outraged at what other people freely choose to do, or the potential collapse of the whole system on which our society is run?  If it’s not the latter, then it really should be.
Sent from my penis using wankertalk.

Trump to spray Mexican mosquitoes with DDT
This conspiracy must stop! President Trump has found out that DDT was banned for no good reason. The insects have been multiplying for decades and now are bringing in the Zika virus. They must be stopped. With the EPA on its last legs, this should be an easy task.

The first thing we will do is pay the chemical giants for making the required metric tons of the material. No Chinese DDT will be used.

Then American pilots will spray along the the border and the wall. The wall itself will be harnessed to spray DDT on the Mexican side daily. Until then, planes will be used.

Golf courses around the country will be freed of mosquitoes after that.

"President" Trump acting like he has presidential powers
Washington -- Donald Trump, who signed a contract with a number of "news" websites and TV networks prior to the 2016 election has done a remarkable job acting as if he were the autocratic ruler of the free world. Things may get a little heated on the planet for a few months before the unqualified imposter is removed from office. Just this week he met with generals and gave sketchy news conferences where he hinted at some international action.

Trump handlers have been able to prevent a few of the worst disasters, but as the pretend president holds some actual powers, a missile or two were already launched to impress foreign leaders. According to the script, the hired reality show host was just supposed to have dinner with them. Touching and kissing the women leaders and wives of male leaders was supposed to help ratings. It rarely has worked out.

Mr Trump is better controlled on the golf course, where a handler is able to drive him around. A semi truck with a psychiatric clinic inside is standing by and the golf cart can be driven inside it any time that Trump needs treatment for his sociopathy and other unstable states.

From 2013
Erie, PA -- Area bachelor Eric Maitz, 29, has been hoping to recover the pair of the dark sock for two months. "No luck, I live alone and I have used all the other clothing by now. It's not going to be inside a sweater." Eric figures the sock was lost at his girlfriend's and he's not going to call her about a sock. He wants to leave a good impression, even though she
dumped him. "I had packed a t-shirt, boxer shorts and those socks I guess over that one weekend I spent there." Or maybe the missing sock was one he wore and kicked under her bed. Socks don't make good rags, especially if they are not cotton.

Libertarians, Dystopia, Young Men and Big Corporations

What do these have in common? The young men part is easy. They are dependent on their family till working age or at least teens. They value the family, personal effort, rewards from work. Then they get a job and they have to pay tax. They have no idea what the government does, other than at the city and county level where the results are plain to see, roads and police and fire protection. But in general, government is just restrictions on life and supporting people who are not able to make a living.

Then they go to college or perhaps just pick up a book, Atlas Shrugged, by Ayn Rand. Rand was a Russian émigré who knew all the evils of socialism. She painted a dystopian future of a strictly controlled planet. From this pretty much all modern dystopian fiction comes out. The comic book or Hollywood version, or even the lyrics to the album 2112 by the band Rush. Paul Ryan read the book as a college student. He still acts based on it, as pretty much all government is evil. He is on a mission to destroy Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, as these are all part of the unnecessary and evil things that the libertarian teachings of Rand introduced.

Corporations figure into the thing in a sort of convoluted way. They cannot completely dismiss government, as they depend on it to make near monopolies in any one field. The lobbying efforts have led to many industries having only three or four players. Food is grown by many farmers, but the processing and bringing to market is in the hands of a few giants. Even seed production for the farming is in the hands of a corporate giant.

So we are essentially at the point where any kind of welfare or government control of any production is disappearing. The corporations use the state to their ends. By supporting “capitalism” we are essentially doing the opposite of what we intended, we make ourselves slaves to consumer products instead of the socialist state the Rand feared.

The industries dictate the bills that control their industry. The Federal Agriculture Improvement and Reform Act of 1996 made sure that only the biggest farms and ranches made money for mass produced foods. Smaller farmers then started things that have different labeling, such as organic foods. These require more manpower and cannot always be grown with big machines.

Much of the farm end of things is explained in the book What's the Matter with Kansas? How Conservatives Won the Heart of America (2004) by Thomas Frank.

Politics have entered what he calls Culture Wars. We don’t understand material benefits anymore so we concentrate on other politics, and people in the middle of the country have become Republicans simply because of values, religion etc.

And this is a textbook definition of mafia: merging of production and government.

Trump Secretly Listening to King Crimson

If this got out, Mike pence would never forgive him. But President Trump is having trouble sleeping more than four hours. The diet pills do that. Tweeting only takes so much time. Once a week Trump pulls out a portable CD player and his precious Japanese pressings of the King Crimson catalog.

He then pours an ounce of red wine and sips a part of it while listening to these classic progressive rock albums. The president has no fancy tastes in food, he will eat chicken from a bucket. But while he pretends to listen to brass bands on patriotic occasions, this is what he really loves. He never listens to the lyrics much, he absorbs the sound with his full body.

If things really get bad during the day and Trump has a tantrum, he has been led to his quarters to relax. He listens to the song Islands by King Crimson then.

Sioux Falls going about life as if Trump never became president

Sioux Falls, SD -- The city will be getting over the last few weeks of snow and will be blooming and spring like soon enough:

Bob and Madge Johnson were at the supermarket Friday as Bob had knocked off a little early at the funeral home. There is a burial Saturday and he will be showered and ready for that, with his suit and earmuffs to stand by the grave waiting for the hearse and the client. Madge usually sleeps in but will join him for lunch. A few new customers will come by to select a casket in the afternoon. There are some issues with Madge getting good health insurance, but what the heck, it was the same under Bush and Obama. You have to buy insurance but eventually you die. They get a good deal on grave plots. The lowest price coffins will be free for them.

Eric and Ginny McCarthy will be busy with sports on TV and are here just for beer and chips. But Ginny talked him into a veggie tray as well. Eric is 42 and will not be dealing with any Trump issues this year. He teaches auto shop at the community college.
