The size of things

Post by Rum » Sat Dec 02, 2017 12:37 pm

I was looking at one of those Youtube vids about how big shit is last night. Not sure why I bother because I know how big what we can see of the universe is. I guess I just can't really grasp it - our minds are not capable I suspect. Anyway I did a little scribbled calculation as follows.

At 100 miles an hour non- stop, it would take about 106 years to drive your car to the sun.

At the same speed it would take about 20 million years to drive to Alpha Centauri, out nearest star.

And that's just for starters.

Of course you'd run out of petrol at some point.

You should calculate how big the car would have to be to have enough space to carry enough snacks and drinks for a hundred year journey.

You could never drive your car to the Sun! For starters, you'd run out of--

Oh, bugger.

I'll just, uh...

I'll get me coat, then, shall I?

:sigh:
People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.

But those letters are not silent.

They're just waiting their turn.

You'd, uh... well, you'd run out of biscuits for tea! So there's that. Yes. Yes, there's that. Ha! And, um.. and, er... ah! and how would you make your tea!

There. I've run rings round you logically! :{D

I think a solar powered car is probably a good idea. That, and some really dark sunglasses.
