I used to spend a lot of time in the lab. There are reliable things in science that can be repeated and usually work many times, depending on the variables. But many of these are pretty obvious and and most of the basics of sciences are obvious to us in the field.
I was past 50 when I discovered the terrible truth. Most people are stupid. Not just about things they never studied, they are even stupid about everyday things and things they do repeatedly.
Now in the Trump era, more than 10 years later, I discover another truth. Most people do not care about truths and facts. Many of them follow a fiction of their own. I thought that was limited to politics, religion and such. Not so. Because of these deep faiths, they must distrust any research funded by all governments.
You can substitute "myth" for fiction.
