Berlin market attack suspect killed in shootout in northern Italy

MILAN, Dec 23 (Reuters) - The suspect in the Berlin Christmas market truck attack was killed in a pre-dawn shoot-out with police in a suburb of the northern Italian city of Milan on Friday, Italy's interior minister said.
"The man killed was without a shadow of doubt Anis Amri," Marco Minniti said, referring to the 24-year-old Tunisian who is suspected of driving the truck that smashed through a Berlin market on Monday killing 12 people.

This will be a feast for conspiracy nuts: They found an id card of a potential attacker in the truck! And according to this id card this person was born in the Tunisian town that has the same name as the planet Anakin Skywalker was born on in the Star Wars universe.

I'm betting he won't be taken in alive.

That's right! By law, so-called 'terrorists' must leave an ID behind in the truck or the plane, or whatever place, to expedite their murder 'capture'.
Of course, the servile livestock, bottom feeders don't have a friggin clue as to whether this person ever existed, whether he did the foul deed, or whether he travelled to Milan and was conveniently executed 'apprehended' at 3 AM by cops who were merely asking for his ID because he was walking "in a suspicious manner"(!)...an ID, that, of course, he couldn't show...because he had left it behind in the truck in Berlin.
Oswald's wallet, passports fluttering out of incinerated planes, ID left behind at Charlie Hebdo car, ID beside Stade de France suspect, in trash can of the Belgian bomber, and probably others who are 'guilty' or need to be.
A few fools have suggested that the supposed perpetrators leave their ID behind on purpose. Yea...whatever. More fodder for the sheeple. Then they go to the trouble of turning themselves in (only to be shot anyway (Charlie Hebdo)) or fleeing as fast & as far as they can (such as here)... only to be shot anyway.

True, but in this case, the ID being left behind does seem suspicious.
All a bit convenient. That doesn't mean it's a stitch up. But why the fuck would you do that?

If you wanted to dump it, you dump it while on the run. Not in the scene of the crime. But nutters do move in mysterious ways.
In the end, you can't really believe or disbelieve stuff like that. Just lean one way, or the other.

The guy probably thought he wouldn't survive the attack. Seems to have stopped the attack earlier than planned. Could have done a lot more damage. Left the truck in a hurry, so left back all his personal belongings.

But George is a simple soul and can't acknowledge the facts when they stare him in the face. Like most people, including on this forum, he suffers from cognitive dissonance. Brian thinks that referring to himself in the third person doesn't add gravitas to what he types nor does it make his speculations sound any more objective. Brian also thinks that to assume he is correct until someone can prove the negative to his satisfaction is to undermines any claim to knowledge he might otherwise offer on that basis. The ID was found early on Tuesday, so within a few hours after the truck had been transported from the crime scene to a police compound where it was then examined. Police didn't announce the find until Tuesday evening for strategic reasons.

Any credible theories for why it was there? Do Europeans and/or Arabs have a habit of putting their ID under the seat instead of in their pocket or in their glove box?

It wasn't under the seat but just in a wallet on the ground in the cabin. One police expert on TV said that crime scene investigation has to work so thorough that it doesn't just pick up stuff without investigating the surrounding first.
