Any of you know anything about this laptop?

Out of the people that ever were, almost all of them are dead.
There are way more dead people, and you're all gonna die
and then you're gonna be dead for way longer than you're alive.
Like that's mostly what you're ever gonna be.
You're just dead people that didn't die yet.

I have an Acer Aspire (maybe not that exact one - I don't know) - and it's been really good!

I might not be able to get it right away, since i think we're finally going to cave and buy an AC. Too. Damn. Hot.

But I appreciate the feedback. this one's definitely the front runner, unless I hear more that makes me change my mind...

It looks pretty good, but as always it depends what you want it for. At 15 inches, it's not small, and with a maximum four hour battery life, it's more like a desktop replacement than an easily mobile machine. Obviously with larger size comes greater power. It certainly doesn't seem to be missing much in the way of features, though possibly extra USB ports would be useful if you happen to need to plug several things in.
[Disclaimer - if this is comes across like I think I know what I'm talking about, I want to make it clear that I don't. I'm just trying to get my thoughts down]

I have an Acer for 5 years, and it also in near-perfect condition. However, Acer build quality may not be what it used to be.

Also, you might be able to get something better for that price.

My previous laptop was an Acer Aspire, but probably an earlier model. I had problems with it (mainly lack of performance) which is why I bought a new laptop after only about 18 months.

To be honest, you could nearly buy a glossy picture of a MacBook for that price.

Well my acer that I purchased for the Good Lady worked fine but the harddrive was shit. I replaced that and the memory and now it's the fastest most stable computer in the house.

Every single second you hesitate, the more you get for each dollar you spend. So don't rush. That same laptop could be on sale in a month, $100 off.

In my experience, them most important thing to consider about a laptop is a sturdy power supply jack.
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."
