A bag full of damp hair doesn't weigh that much. (I'm basing this on salon floor sweep-up.) Hair isn't that heavy.

A bag full of damp hair doesn't weigh that much. (I'm basing this on salon floor sweep-up.) Hair isn't that heavy.

There isn't normally much air at all in an animal's stomach. There are powerful muscles constantly squeezing it and moving stuff around, to aid digestion. The air is squeezed out.
I've read reports of young girls having hairballs much heavier than four pounds removed. ( nowhere near basketball size ).

I'm not an expert, but I think that the ink molecules are inserted between cells, so when the cells slough off and are replaced the ink is simply re-surrounded by new cells. I'm not drunk enough just yet to work out the details of this hypothesis, mind you. But give me an hour or two.
