There's zero upside to any Skepchicks joining this forum. Sure the snark here would stop, but it's kinda too late to undo the damage. And if they joined they wouldn't be able to open a conversation about what happened, because any honest dialogue would be declared an attack and they would be banned. If any Skepchicks joined it would *prevent* any amelioration, because you wouldn't be able to talk about it.

And that assumes that the majority here are interested in moving on.

You must have been reading his stuff for longer than I. My first encounter with his output, and my reaction to it, took place in March 2009. If anything, my opinion of him has dropped since then. Graculus, if you have a chance to check out some of the older Skepchick-related threads on this site, you'll find there are people taking their part on many occasions.

You've mentioned that sometimes you'll choose to cut bait on an argument when you realize the person you're arguing with won't change hir mind. I've been known to do the same. It's easier to stick it out if there are other people who can see where you're coming from.

Maybe you could stick around. Ayaan's right-- we don't ban people for their opinions here. I won't say there aren't downsides to that policy, but I think it's a worthwhile ideal.
