Re: More good movies we've seen.
I saw "The Help" last night. It's an excellent movie with an excellent cast. I did, however, find it deeply disturbing. The level of racism that existed (and in some sense still exists) is terrifying, and I found myself squirming in my seat that some of these events happened within my lifetime. I found myself wanting Ironman to swoop in and slap those idiotic racists silly. I can definately recommend it, but be prepared for some sadness and disgust at human nature, mixed in with the feel-good parts.

Watched "John Carter" again last night. I honestly think it's better than the book. Way less hokey than that old book.

I am very, very, VERY disappointed. They've pushed out the release date of G.I. Joe: Retaliation from this June 29th to NEXT MARCH so they can make it 3d. Dwayne Johnson and Bruce Willis ... bound to be a wonderfully silly action film, and I was really psyched about it. Damn it. I don't even like 3d.

Our theaters always give an option, 2D or 3D.Traveler wrote:I am very, very, VERY disappointed. They've pushed out the release date of G.I. That's how we saw it the first time. Imagine it in Omnimax.macdoc wrote:Avengers in iMax 3D was awesome- fastest 2 hours ever. Much fun

Re: More good movies we've seen.
So do ours. The problem is that GI Joe was filmed in 2D, so they have to retrofit 3D. It'll take them nine months, hence the delay. Re: More good movies we've seen.
I heard the 3D wasn't as good as the 2D, since the 3D was retrofitted. That the night scenes, for instance, were too dark. Was I misled? I've already seen it twice in 2D, but am thinking of seeing it again.macdoc wrote:Avengers in iMax 3D was awesome- fastest 2 hours ever. Much fun

Never noticed anything amiss but then you know how powerful iMax projectors are.

3D did nothing for this movie.Traveler wrote:I heard the 3D wasn't as good as the 2D, since the 3D was retrofitted. That the night scenes, for instance, were too dark. Was I misled? Re: More good movies we've seen.
I've seen it in both. The 3-D is terrible.

3D is usually terrible and when it isn't terrible it's merely pointless.

Re: More good movies we've seen.
"Avatar" is the extreme high-end of 3D. When I saw Avengers the first time there must have been some problem with the theater's gear because the background kept blurring. Second time, same theater, no problem.Clinton Huxley wrote:Not seen it but happy for an exception to prove the rule....Gawdzilla wrote:It made "Avatar" even more amazing.Clinton Huxley wrote:3D is usually terrible and when it isn't terrible it's merely pointless.
