If two planes are in perfect "synch", knowing each other very well, it's quite possible for them to cum together.

Yes. Sidesplittingly funny. Really. :ddpan:

Nice job, but no sound system will ever be able to even approximately approach the amplitude of the noise a Catalina makes.
The technology has improved over the last few years and it will get better.

Impressive. I don't think that system can ever replicate the sheer massiveness of the noise, though. I remember watching Catalinas landing and taking off at Rose Bay, a part of Sydney's harbour. Even from about 300 metres away it made my ears want to flee to the back of my head. Qantas operated a regular run between there and Lord Howe Island until 1971. The last Catalina took off from Rose Bay in 1977.

Note, they had four engines. The model above seems to have only two.
That's not a Catalina its a short Sunderland.

This is a Catalina.

Cool. I guess 'Catalina' was used as a generic term for 'flying boat' around here. The mooring site at Rose Bay, where the Sunderlands operated from, has been converted to a Restaurant. It is named 'Catalina'.

I like this short documentary on the Sunderland flying boats:

The first PBY-5 on the scene when the survivors of USS Indianapolis were found never flew again. Over one hundred men clamored on board to get away from the sharks and kicked holes in the skin to have places to hang onto. For the US this bookended the wartime service of the PBYs, from the one that spotted Bismark on her run to France through to the one that turned into a large life raft, PBYs were in most important battles and quietly helping win the war in many other ways, from tedious patrols to flying ice cream to jarheads on forgot islands.

"Say hello to my little friend ..."

The new Airfix 1/76 Cromwell IV cruiser tank, complete with deep fording gear fitted. The kit also comes with the option of a hedgerow cutter for slicing through the Normandy bocage, but I didn't use that here.

The one-piece "hard" tracks with built-in sag meant this kit was always headed straight for the workbench. A very enjoyable Christmas project. :smoke:

Thanks Pen - I kind of guessed you'd like it.
