That' stupid, how will they regulate the emissions of the people who live there?
those of the animals?

I don't know about you, but the amount of greenhouse gas I emit each year is miniscule when compared to a coal-fired power plant. I think average diet of the average French man is a lot richer than what I'm used to. I mean, Paris literally smells like farts!

No contest, but if you start qualifying co2 as a pollutant, you still have to take every source into account.

That's true - we have to take everything into account. But it's the additional emissions of society, through the economic processes of industry, transport and agriculture etc, which are of primary concern.

If one accepts that 'polluting' is the action of contaminating the environment with harmful or poisonous substances, then, surely, it is the action which becomes the focus of concern rather than the substance itself? Of course, there are natural sources of CO2 such as outgassing from the oceans, decomposing biomass, volcanoes, wildfires, and even the respiration of insects and animals, but the seas, volcanos, pigs and butterflies are not the one's responsible for global heating, nor are they the subject of this form of regulatory focus. We don't hold the old fridge responsible for fly-tipping, so let's not drift into debates premised on holding CO2 morally responsible for polluting the planet.

Good to see higher profile media outlets catching up with reality. :tea:

Global Climate Change Science News

More people now work in clean energy than in fossil fuels

Nearly 40 million people worldwide work in jobs related to clean energy, according to a Sept. 8 report from the International Energy Agency. That number represents 56% of total energy sector employment, meaning that, for the first time ever, clean energy jobs outnumber those involved in producing, transporting, and burning fossil fuels.

The clean energy jobs includes those upstream, like building solar panels and producing crops for biofuels, as well as downstream, like operating wind farms, installing energy efficiency upgrades in buildings, and selling electric vehicles.

The majority shifted during the pandemic, the report says; in 2019, clean energy was just shy of half of jobs.

Oh I think most responsible "high profile" media in other countries have a solid reporting base for climate change and Washington Post, NYT and NPR do a good job in the US.

Only the right wing, Murdoch/Fox et al downplays or ignores AGW and consequences.

A real mans job is digging coal. These so called clean industries such as windmills that are decimating large bird populations, solar panels made of chemical goop in the spreading deserts of China...they are feel good hypocrisies to make folks here feel better about continuing their first world lifestyles, whilst the world burns out of sight.
