Climate change is unstoppable. Better to go for broke and dig the remaining carbons to put a viable city in space above the coming climate catastrophe below. You'll come around to my way of thinking as the century wears on and the dying planet becomes more dead

Meh. Fatalism doesn't set the future in stone - that assumption is just an excuse for what you're doing today.

"The fight is definitely not lost yet. In fact it will never be lost so long as we avoid extinction. Because however warm the planet gets, it will always be the case that the decade that follows could contain more suffering or less." -- Andreas Malm, How to Blow Up A Pipeline

It's amazing that you find it easier to imagine a future with cities in space than one where we started dealing with climate change today - as if the former doesn't wholly depend on the latter.

words won't change anything - the climate change horse bolted and became a juggernaut two hundred years before you were born. All they can do is pay down the interest on the situation. There is nothing except talk for the collapsing biosphere on the road ahead, talk that won't make it go away - won't make a dint on the scale of catastrophe
