It is not cheese. Just as tofu steak is not steak. Why do vegans use non-vegan names? You have tofu cutlets and drumsticks. All processed of course just as the nut cheese is.
The Dutch also call their favorite sport Voetbal, although it has nothing to do with proper soccer. :prof:

Soccer, or Sockball, was a game played in private schools with a ball literally made out of socks. Rugger had a similar historical root in the private school system, where informal house teams would attempt to carry a large carpet - typically stolen for the purpose from the Masters' common room - thrice round the quad and returned to its proper place while avoiding discovery and an inevitable sound thrashing. Over time the game developed within these elite educational establishments, as shown in this documentary...

The snob name is Association Football. The term soccer comes from a slang or jocular abbreviation of the word "association", with the suffix "-er" appended to it. The word soccer (which arrived at its final form in 1895) was first recorded in 1889 in the earlier form of socca.

I don't mind the occasional dish of tofu, but if it became a regular part of my diet, I'd get tired of it real fast.

Tofu is good as simply one component among many in, for example, a spicy Asian-style soup or stir-fry...

well, I do intend to have a Chinese dinner in about a fourtnight... takeaway from the Chinese down my building... they have decent hot and sour soup, and I do think they have quite a bit of tofu in there.

According to the BBC there are about 375,000,000 vegetarians in the world. That's about 4.8% of the world population. More people eat dog meat.
