I’m familiar with this theory, though I’m clinging to the idea that inside those things space and time are so messed up that anything is possible, including tunnels to other universes, wormholes and fairies,

It will turn out to be pretty mundane no doubt. Well if you count a black hole the size of the solar system as mundane anyway.
