The reality is that brain/mind science isn't as advanced as general medical science. And that's because of the inherent difficulties of dealing with a meta phenomenon like consciousness. I think it's unlikely that psychology/psychiatry can be as rigorous as other medical practices until we work out how the brain and mind actually work. mmmh, my doc told me it"s not recommended to mix strong drink with psychotropic drugs, I never saw anything wrong with that, but then again, the booze is self prescribed because its effects are more predictable than those of the drug
