Mental Health Treatment. Is it value for money?

It seems to be the current fashion that mental health treatment should be given the same importance as physical treatment. In that case, it should have to undergo the same critical assessment in terms of results.

The reality is that brain/mind science isn't as advanced as general medical science. And that's because of the inherent difficulties of dealing with a meta phenomenon like consciousness. I think it's unlikely that psychology/psychiatry can be as rigorous as other medical practices until we work out how the brain and mind actually work. Assuming we can work out how the mind works.

mmmh, my doc told me it"s not recommended to mix strong drink with psychotropic drugs, I never saw anything wrong with that, but then again, the booze is self prescribed because its effects are more predictable than those of the drug
