Oil

Post by Tero » Mon May 01, 2017 12:40 pm

We are still burning oil/gas for cars during several decades.

The Canadian oil is pipes to the gulf coast because the refineries for heavy oil are there. Gas prices won't be affected:
“As the final Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement makes clear, gas prices throughout the United States are primarily driven by global market factors,” a spokesperson said. “The amount of Western Canada Sedimentary Basin (WCSB) crude that makes its way to the Gulf region does not change this dynamic. Any impact on prices for refined petroleum products resulting from the approval and construction of the Keystone XL pipeline would be minimal.”

Gillibrand suggests the crude oil imported through the pipeline would be immediately exported to other countries once it reaches the Gulf Coast. Experts say that isn’t the case.

“I don’t believe that she is correct,” said Mark Barteau, director of the Energy Institute at the University of Michigan. “In general, refineries designed to handle heavier crudes are the ones most likely to utilize this oil, in some cases instead of heavy crudes imported from places like Venezuela.”

The world crude prices are not what the big giants pay. They control their own supply chain and make sure the crude price they is steady. Prices tend to go down before elections even if high the summer before. Price manipulation is common. Jamie Court explains it in a short section in this book.

The gulf oil spill would have been prevented by $ 500 000 remote valve. They bribed politicians and regulators into approving the drilling without an emergency plan for spills.

No, no, no! Politicians don't accept 'bribes'. It's called 'lobbying', doncha know... An honest means of persuasion were no money changes hands or favours given. 'Sobvious, innit?

All the more reason for the government to be involved in as many areas of the economy as possible.
“When I was in college, I took a terrorism class. ... The thing that was interesting in the class was every time the professor said ‘Al Qaeda’ his shoulders went up, But you know, it is that you don’t say ‘America’ with an intensity, you don’t say ‘England’ with the intensity. You don’t say ‘the army’ with the intensity,” she continued. “... But you say these names [Al Qaeda] because you want that word to carry weight. You want it to be something.” - Ilhan Omar

One of only two public K-XL hearings this week. Will be there demonstrating. Within 1 year the Canadians and Trump will push it through. There are some 30 permanent jobs for Nebraska from it.

Now sitting at public hearing. Some 100 locals get to speak at the microphone.

Then the briebed politicians decide.

I'm not one for public speaking, so I did not say this (my would be speech): The pipeline is income for a Canadian conpany. Let them use the existing corridor in Eastern Nebraska, minimizing the miles of oil pipe through Nebraska. It would add miles, but on the Canadian side.

Speech 2:
The KXL pipelines are owned by a corporation, who plan to use the pipes some 50 years if they stay in business. The value of the product is wuestionable . But corporations go bankrupt. When TransCanada does, we will have hundreds of miles of buried pipe in Nebraska. Who is going to pay for its removal? Probably your children. In case of a spill from rusted pipes 20 years from now, the clean up would also bankrupt Transcanada, leaving us the mess and bill.

Don't they use stainless steel for oil pipelines?

Shouldn't rust, and worth good money as scrap.

They do. Pipes are welded and under pressure to push the glop thru.

"Green" energy is dead, it's all about oil and natural gas now. Drill, frack, pipe. US will be number one producer of oil, and number one exporter of natural gas, because Trump is MAGA :prof:
