Implants to combat paralysis (or at least allow the ability to control external machinery) certainly make sense, but I gather that Musk and others see them as a technological adjunct for healthy people. Not so sure about that...

What's the point of making N-times more money than you could ever spend in a 100 lifetimes, and then only living once for about 100 years tops? Elon's probably the kind of guy to want to become an autonomous silicon mind in a box with ai enhancements to cheat death and stay wealthy, or a never-ending distributed consciousness with human rights and 50,000 transformer robot bodies with laser eyes and shit.
