Tesla Model S - Electric Car

Hefty price tag, though -- for the 300 mile battery, it's $77,000 and then extra for the quick-charge contraption. And, the quick charge is 45 minutes to charge up to 80% of the battery. So, figure that's ideal, so it'll be 1 to 1 1/2 hours to get 50% charge. And, figure the 300 mile battery is really a 200 mile battery. But, still, not bad.

But, man, we may finally be seeing viability on the horizon with these things.

One question mark in my mind is battery life. How long before the battery stops holding as much charge or starts losing charge faster? How often will the battery need to be replaced and what is the cost?

I reckon this is where the biggest profit would come from in the longer term for dealers etc. - Those things don't come cheap.

I've always wondered about the health risk angle too. We're told that a tiny batter the size of a credit card gives us brain cancer (phones), and they're suggesting we sit on top of giant batter and drive around on it for hours.....

I thought it was the radio frenquencies of the cell phone radios that caused cancer?

Well, anyway, I wonder what kind of mileage it would get over the mountainous terrain of the BC interior. For $77,000 I think I'll just get myself a nice Porsche.

A horse might be cheaper, easier to maintain and replace? Slower but you need to factor in resilience and to consider the view? :zig:

Yeah.
Invisible pink unicorns also follow us around and when they kiss us, it gives us sunburn.

Get real, man. The energy output of those cell phones is tiny, and has no biological effects apart from a warming effect on tissues immediately adjacent of a hundredth of a degree - which is instantly dissipated by the fact that blood moves.
For every human action, there is a rationalisation and a reason. Only sometimes do they coincide.

Tesla misses a turn and drives directly into a tree, killing two. Don't these things know how to stop?

Apparently no one was in the driver's seat. Supposed to be there to take it off auto-pilot if shit goes wrong. Can't believe they don't use a sensor in the seat to make sure someone is there. If no one there, no worky.

It is actually quite easy. A woman has at least one X chromosome.
