Oy, GenesForLife! You have any idea which cancer-related conference will be held over the coming weekend in Amsterdam? Some Finn(s) are going to present something pretty awesome-sounding there.

Could not find this in English yest, so Google translate to the rescue:

A Finnish study shows that the vaccine against a/the? human papillomavirus(es?) has an effect on local precursors of cervical cancer.

According to professor Jorma Paavonen, this indicates that the vaccine may also have an effect on the cancer that the causes.papillomavirus

The results are from a research project by Tampere and Helsinki Universities and the Population Association (Väestöliitto). The study included 24,000 young women.

A work group at the Institute for Health and Welfare is considering if it would be best to introduce a nationwide vaccination program against papillomavirus. The Working Group should complete its work this coming spring.

In the near future further research findings are expected to indicate whether the vaccine provides better protection if both girls and boys are vaccinated.

The results will be presented over the weekend at a conference in Amsterdam.

"The internet is made of people. People matter. This includes you. Stop trying to sell everything about yourself to everyone. Don’t just hammer away and repeat and talk at people—talk TO people. It’s organic. Make stuff for the internet that matters to you, even if it seems stupid. Do it because it’s good and feels important. Put up more cat pictures. Make more songs. Show your doodles. Give things away and take things that are free." - Maureen J
