Conspiracy Theories
Re: Conspiracy Theories
That was the smear Media Matters is accused of using. They fished around until they could make it look like twitter was promoting hatespeech next to advertisers.
They got caught, it looks like. Discovery might even reveal who their funders/partners are. We know that the social media giants were letting US feds in via discreet back channels, so maybe it's more of the same.
As to 'promoting hate', have you seen such on twitter? Or did someone 'promote' that opinion around you?

Re: Conspiracy Theories
If you go looking to find whether advertisements appear next to Nazi shit on the Xit machine, you will find that they do. Moreover, there is Nazi shit being monetized through 'revenue sharing.' It's outrageous that somebody went looking! Legal action is being taken to, you know, make them pay for their audacity.
Re: Conspiracy Theories
I didn't get Elons comments on 'the jews', but I've heard plenty from other sources lately.
The pro-Palestine gang currently, and the Azov battallion a year or two ago, shows how some of this 'anti-semitism' is more important than others.

Re: Conspiracy Theories
The situation in Palestine is complex in terms of anti-semitism. It should be possible to be highly critical of Israeli government policies without attacking Jews in general. But that line is often crossed, with some of the people protesting the current situation in Gaza shouting "death to the jews" and similar. Hamas and others don't want a 2 state solution, they want the state of Israel abolished, which naturally Israelis will not accept. Depending on who you ask, that "abolish Israel" position is also anti-semitic.
But the anti-semitism clearly shown by Musk, and many others posting on X, is old school Nazi hate. Those of the far right who indulge in it must be conflicted about the current war, as they also hate Arabs and muslims in general...

There's a number of brands of evangelical Christianity which still welcome conflict in Israel as a prefigurative sign of the second coming (any day now), and they work tirelessly to promote it wherever they can.

How can it be anti-semitic to advocate human rights for Arab people in Israel, and the return of their land taken in the Nakba?JimC wrote: ↑Wed Nov 22, 2023 9:16 pmThe situation in Palestine is complex in terms of anti-semitism. Re: Conspiracy Theories
If "the return of their land taken in the Nakba" means in effect the abolition of the state of Israel, then it is arguably anti-semitic. It is also a total fantasy, something that could never be achieved, given the military situation. But stopping the illegal settlements in the West Bank, and allowing the formation of a Palestinian State that can co-exist with Israel is a more reasonable (albeit difficult to achieve) goal...rainbow wrote: ↑Wed Nov 22, 2023 9:22 pmHow can it be anti-semitic to advocate human rights for Arab people in Israel, and the return of their land taken in the Nakba?JimC wrote: ↑Wed Nov 22, 2023 9:16 pmThe situation in Palestine is complex in terms of anti-semitism. The Apartheid Regime said the same of South Africa. Elon Musk is coming under fire for calling an antisemitic conspiracy theory the “actual truth”.
The saga began when a social media user appeared to push the “great replacement” conspiracy theory on X, claiming that Jewish communities “have been pushing the exact kind of dialectical hatred against whites that they claim to want people to stop using against them”.
“I’m deeply disinterested in giving the tiniest s*** now about western Jewish populations coming to the disturbing realization that those hordes of minorities that support flooding their country don’t exactly like them too much. You want truth said to your face, there it is,” the post added.
Mr Musk replied to the post, writing on his X platform: “You have said the actual truth.”

Why not link it? Who did this 'appear to' and why isn't there something more concrete?
This unnamed user got a hat-tip from Elon, which is now being quote-mined for a 'news' article.
Then he also banned the phrase 'from the river to the sea' because it means wiping out the Jewish state?
Sounds like the article in the Independent is a conspiracy theory. Or heavily biased against him (the subject of his lawsuit)
I didn't find a link to anything on twitter in that article. Suspiciously absent, in light of his lawsuit against Media Matters and their dirty dirty smear merchant colleagues.
Overall, I'm not convinced that Musk is an antisemite, but I am convinced that the paper quoted claimed some things, but didn't have a link to the source material or a very clear story.

Re: Conspiracy Theories
Well, Zionists were no longer free of the Nazi boot that they started behaving exactly as their tormentors did, stealing land by force from the inhabitants and appropriating it for their own Lebensraum... and that's not antisemite since it's just a recap of 75 years of israeli history.JimC wrote: ↑Thu Nov 23, 2023 12:09 amhttps://www.independent.co.uk/news/worl ... 48362.html

Yeah, I've heard that stuff. Still kind of curious how no countries in the region want to take Palestinian refugees. Not even the liberal democratic ones.
Though maybe they've changed their minds recently. I just noted a few neighbouring countries asserting that they wouldn't, but that may have been just hot-headedness.
