No fucking tsunami is going to get me at 7000 msl. That's adapting.

So much for your liberty to move about...But those Indian remains 300' deep in Puget Sound? That's "failure to adapt to tsunamis and earthquakes". Other bunches of aboriginal people up there you never heard of? "Failure to adapt to pyroclastic flows"...

Seth lives a couple of hundred kilometres north-east from the La Garita caldera and 1200 kilometres south-east from the one in Yellowstone Park. If either one farts, and the latter is overdue for it, he'll probably have just enough time to kiss his arse good bye.

I remember calculating the ejecta from a good solid Yellowstone blast would cover an area the size of Iowa something like a kilometer deep, which I remember supporting if it actually all landed on Iowa.

The best way to adapt is to cut carbon emissions, but you don't want to do that. So I guess death is preferable to you or something.
I dunno, who knows what goes through that head of yours.

It's an odd world, if you adapt to everything that MIGHT happen.
I don't see many people wanting to adapt in case a comet slams into the Earth, or in case the Island in the Canaries splits apart, or Yellowstone blows, or loads of other things.

People have adapted to things that have happened in the past, like the San Andreas fault giving.
That makes a bit of sense, because we know it will happen again.

But significant global warming isn't anywhere near so certain. And not likely to be anywhere near so harmful if it does happen.
If fact it could be a bonus, overall. Nobody knows.

Maybe they should.

So much for your liberty to move about
I have liberty to move about. I can go squat on the caldera of Mt. St. Helens if I want to. I can go live on the coast of Oregon or South Carolina if I want. In which case, should the volcano erupt or a tsunami strike, I will likely die, which is yet another liberty I enjoy: the liberty to take risks with my own life.
...But those Indian remains 300' deep in Puget Sound? That's "failure to adapt to tsunamis and earthquakes". Other bunches of aboriginal people up there you never heard of? "Failure to adapt to pyroclastic flows"...
I'm guessing that the Indians involved probably moved inland and uphill as sea levels rose over hundreds of thousands of years.

Like I said, adapt or die. Let me add another aphorism to deal with this stupid logic you're pandering: "Sometimes you die."

In the latter case, it sucks to be you, but oh well... Nature is under no obligation to respect your wishes that things remain the way you have become comfortable with their being. Adapt or die.

Or deny there's a problem and start politicizing it for $$. You forgot that option. :coffee:

You presupposed a problem when you said, "Adapt or die", so "Falsely claim there's a problem" is not a logical option under your little rubric.

I presupposed nothing but climate change. The climate has been changing for about 4 billion years or so. It will continue to change until the Sun becomes a red giant and swallows the earth up. It's not a "problem" it's a feature.

Adapt or die, as living creatures have been doing for billions of years.

So you're saying the climate is cooling or warming now?

Of course it is. It has always been either cooling or warming. Given that fact, one can either adapt to that change or not adapt to that change...and die.
