Burning is also the best way of getting rid of toxic organic materials. Pesticides herbicides. Very few have any metal residue or arsenic.

I agree completely that landfill is not the best answer, just saying that it is one step better than discarding plastic waste willy-nilly into the environment...

Re: What is this made of?
In Ireland where we had our house there was no garbage collection paid by the local council. It was all private companies who moved it as little as possible. Here we have the total reverse. You can report any garbage problems directly to the city council and action is taken immediately. I am not joking. Visitors are amazed at how clean our streets are. The policy behind all this is simple; make people happy. There is a very simple dogma; happy people are important.

Our garbage and recyclables collection is controlled by our local council, which sub-contracts it to a private company. We pay the cost via our council rates. The collection part works quite well, but the recycling industry which receives the material is not as organised as it should be.

Plastics that would be otherwise recyclable made toxic with perfluoro additives.

the benefit to the plastic, and consumer, is slight. Unnecesaary.
