Not to mention that any dates will have to be in Arab qalendar... I sure hope Langley's got experts that went to a wahhabi madrassa and are used to computing things according to the arabic system.

Yeah, but just imagine if he used whole surahs as encryption keys... not as bad as single use books the same length as the text, but still...
Can analogues to Babbage's solution of Vigenère still be used in modern cryptography, or is it an either/or thing between knowing the exact key and doing the brute force thing that would last longer than the universe has been there unless we manage to switch to optic computers in the meantime?
