Re: Uncrackable Bin Laden Hard Drives
I'm wild just like a rock, a stone, a tree
And I'm free, just like the wind the breeze that blows
And I flow, just like a brook, a stream, the rain
And I fly, just like a bird up in the sky
And I'll surely die, just like a flower plucked
And dragged away and thrown away
And then one day it turns to clay
It blows away, it finds a ray, it finds its way
And there it lays until the rain and sun
Then I breathe, just like the wind the breeze that blows
And I grow, just like a baby breastfeeding
And it's beautiful, that's life

And I'm free, just like the wind the breeze that blows
And I flow, just like a brook, a stream, the rain
And I fly, just like a bird up in the sky
And I'll surely die, just like a flower plucked
And dragged away and thrown away

It blows away, it finds a ray, it finds its way
And there it lays until the rain and sun

depending on how religious the guy was, I'd think more of reference to surah and verse of key slogans, or worse, hadith references...Gawdzilla wrote:"Wife's birthday, son's birth month, daughter's birth year." Easy.
Not to mention that any dates will have to be in Arab qalendar... I sure hope Langley's got experts that went to a wahhabi madrassa and are used to computing things according to the arabic system.

That was Clancey's point. People use things they can remember. Things from their life. Jack Ryan's pin number was his birthday, in reverse. With identity theft comes a window for people to steal more than just your good name.Svartalf wrote:depending on how religious the guy was, I'd think more of reference to surah and verse of key slogans, or worse, hadith references...Gawdzilla wrote:"Wife's birthday, son's birth month, daughter's birth year." Yeah, but just imagine if he used whole surahs as encryption keys... not as bad as single use books the same length as the text, but still...Gawdzilla wrote:That was Clancey's point. Can analogues to Babbage's solution of Vigenère still be used in modern cryptography, or is it an either/or thing between knowing the exact key and doing the brute force thing that would last longer than the universe has been there unless we manage to switch to optic computers in the meantime?
