'Our civilization is the wonder of this solar system'
Brian Cox..he is going to end up being a national treasure, so watch him! Watched the last part of 'Wonders of the Solar System' where he talked about some new stuff I had not read about (and I do try to keep up to date), particularly about the potential for bacterial type life under the surface of Mars and also in the (hypothesised) oceans of Europa.
He closed, me having had to suppress several emotional lumps in the throat, in effect with the view that 'Our civilization is the wonder of this solar system', or something very much like it.
Brilliant.

If he wasn't from Manchester he'd be perfect. Even I've heard of him.

I can't watch him now without hearing him saying, "Physics is just fucking great!"

A book is a version of the world. If you do not like it, ignore it; or offer your own version in return.

Yeah, this episode was good. I had no idea about the caves on Mars... intriguing, but my money has been on Europa for years.
I hope this can get funded...

Just 9 billion? Bleh, people like Bill Gates should fund things like these, so selfish of them to just start giving all their money to stop hunger and spreading of decease and stuff like thatAshtonBlack wrote:"Completely fucks with my head."Xamonas Chegwé wrote:I can't watch him now without hearing him saying, "Physics is just fucking great!"

Re: 'Our civilization is the wonder of this solar system'
I'm terrible, I am, when I watch these programmes and they say things like our planet might have been colonised by microorganisms from another world on a comet* I immediately think "Let's send out loads of comets full of bacteria and maybe they will grow into something cool somewhere!!" or these caves on mars, I think if there isn't life down there but could be, we should totally colonise it.

I've not had chance to see if it's mentioned over here yet but Cox dared to mention that astology was rubbish in one episode so I started a topic here: http://www.rational-skepticism.org/pseu ... t4697.html and then good old Hack sticks his oar in here: http://www.facebook.com/topic.php?uid=2 ... opic=13894
