Buildings, bridges and trucks look like toys, swept up in the gigantic mud wave, cascading down Nepal’s Bhote Koshi River. The magnitude of the flooding, burying entire villages in its path, beggars belief.

Climate scientists have been warning that the Himalayas are warming faster than the rest of the world, increasing the chances of a disaster of this scale.

Shocking news.

Our educational group has connections to schools in Nepal. They're in the north Terai, a low-lying plains region near the Indian border to the south-east of Langtang region. Nonetheless, some additional flooding from the glacier runoff is expected over the coming days - which will add to lands already saturated by this year's particularly heavy monsoon.
